What we Learned About
Our team partnered with Pitchfork Pantry, ASU’s food bank force against student hunger. Through our efforts with the Pantry our team gleamed a first-person glance into the community of students who might struggle with obtaining nutritious and healthy foods. Most importantly, however, we learned how small collaborations between major public institutions like ASU and local businesses can create massive change for the hungry.
Events, Projects, and Engagements
As a team, we engaged in multiple volunteer activities throughout the year, including our service for Pitchfork Pantry. Earlier into the semester we partnered with MT24 Animal Rights to host an Anti-thanksgiving potluck/movie night. On the individual level, however, each mission team member volunteered to uphold a “mission team job” for the duration of the year. Positions included community outreach, social media managers, and secretarial jobs. The purpose of these jobs was to ensure mission team engagement and to make members feel closer connected to the team and its mission.
