With climate change, globally average temperature increases and rising sea levels, PMA alongside an RMIT student has considered how people are to survive in a changing environment. The Blow house is a life support unit, which imagines the future of dwelling.
Research has been conducted into wind velocity and the pressure exerted onto a client site and house proposal using CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics). Wind flow has been used to generate form which is sustainable and reduces the high-pressure concentrations on the envelop. By optimizing these conditions, the house emerges organically in a symbiotic relationship with the land.
The RMIT Architecture Practice Research Elective provides an opportunity for students to study with architectural practices and undertake design research within their practice.
