Introduction Scope of Manual This instruction manual includes calibration and configuration information for FIELDVUEr instruments, when used with the Model 275 HARTr Communicator. Figures 1 shows the menu structure for the DVC5000 Series digital valve controller. Figure 19 shows the menu structure for the Type DT4000 digital transducer. For general information on servicing and specifications for the HART Communicator, see the Product Manual for The HART Communicator. This instruction manual supports the Model 275 HART Communicator with device description 9. The manual describes the functionality of FIELDVUE Instruments with Firmware Revision 4. It also applies to Firmware Revision 3, except as noted. Only persons qualified through training or experience should operate the HART Communicator. If you have any questions about these instructions, contact your Fisher Controls sales office or sales representative before proceeding.

Conventions Used in this Manual To help you follow the path required to accomplish various tasks, the sequence of steps through the HART Communicator menus will be presented in textual format. An overview of the menu structure is shown in figures 1 and 19.

Description The HART (Highway Addressable Remote Transducer) Communicator is a hand-held interface to HART compatible field instruments, such as the DVC5000 Series digital valve controllers and the Type DT4000 digital transducer. The HART Communicator uses the Bell 202 frequency shift keying (FSK) technique. This technique superimposes high-frequency digital communication signals on the standard 4 to 20 mA current loop. Because the net energy added to the loop is zero, communication does not disturb the 4 to 20 mA signal.

Specifications Specifications for the HART Communicator can be found in the Product Manual for The HART Communicator. Please refer to that manual for information regarding specifications.

The Model 275 HART Communicator This section discusses the display, keypad, and menu stucture for the HART Communicator, shown in figure 2. For information on connecting the HART communicator to the instrument, see the section Connecting the HART Communicator to a FIELDVUE Instrument in this manual. For more information on the HART Communicator, such as specifications and servicing, see the Product Manual for the HART Communicator.
