WEEKLY NOTICES AND REMINDERS WELCOME

We would like to warmly welcome Mr Karl Dodunski to our school and to room 4. We will be setting a meet and greet later in the term for whanau to come along to school and talk to Karl.

SENIOR ELECTIVES Starts this Friday. Thanks to our awesome parents Michelle Lamont, Brenda McCann, Sue Brook, Louise Townsend, Em Vautier and Bindy Burke - who have added to the options we can offer our tamariki! :-) Remember, if you have any spare time on a Friday, please come and help us out!

Y4-6 KAPAHAKA

Kapahaka notices are due back tomorrow. There is a Kapahaka meeting for all Y4-6 students with returned forms tomorrow at 11.30am. Please text Rachael Coll 021 555542, or email rcoll@east.school.nz if your child would like to be part of Kapahaka this year. CELEBRATION ASSEMBLIES Because of swimming we have not been holding any afternoon assemblies. CHOCOLATE BAR FUNDRAISER We will be selling Chocolate Easter eggs $1.50 each and chocolate bars $2 soon. Look our for your box coming home soon. This is a fundraiser to help with offsetting camp costs. Please let the office know if you DO NOT want a box sent home with your child.

BEST START WAIHI EAST SCHOOL We would love to invite you to attend our Best Start workshops, here at Waihi East School, aimed at delivering successful transitions to school for all New Entrant children entering our Junior School. Our programme will look at 3 aspects of starting school, over 3 workshops sessions. We invite you to attend the session in our staff room, whilst your child enjoys some time getting to know their teacher and classroom. SESSION 2: WEDNESDAY 15TH MARCH 2017 - Literacy. 11.30am-12.30pm SESSION 3: WEDNESDAY 29TH MARCH 2017 - Numeracy. 1.45pm-2.45pm Please confirm your attendance by contacting Briar Frew (Deputy Principal) email: bfrew@east.school.nz or through the school office. POOL CLOSED TO PUBLIC

Our school pool will be closed for after school swimming on Tuesday 14th March from 4.30—5.30pm. Thank You for cooperation.

SCHOOL BUS

The school bus is not getting to East School until around 3pm from now on. Please DO NOT park in the Bus bay in the afternoons. Thank You for your cooperation in this matter.


WAIHI EAST SCHOOL TRIATHLON Friday 24th March at our school - keep your training up for our school triathlon coming up! Thames Valley Triathlon Thames Valley Primary Schools Year 5 & 6 Triathlon Date: Tuesday 4th April 2017 Where: Cooks Beach Reserve, Banks St/Marine Parade. Distances: Swim - 80m Bike - 4km Run - 2km Register at: Cooks Beach Reserve 9am-9.45am Briefing at: 9.45am, starting time: 10am Children who are interested have taken home letters with more information. Please return these ASAP. Please see the office if you need another one. NETBALL Forms have gone home this week. Please fill in and return to Sharon in the office. Extra forms are available if your child doesn't have one.

MAGIC SHOW Next Tuesday we are hosting a short free magic show. If you DO NOT want your child to attend please phone the office.

BEACH HOP @ Waihi Wednesday 22nd March 2017 Some classes are interested in walking to town to check out the awesome cars and happenings downtown. We need parent helpers to ensure our ratios are suitable for this kind of class outing. Your child's teacher will send a note home if they require your assistance.

DISCOVERY GARDEN TIME We would so appreciate some Gardening assistance from any available parent or grandparent or family member in Discovery time Friday 9.10 till 10.30. We are working on the gardens regularly with a group of keen students. However any assistance could be at any time you can make it. Please see Maren if you are keen to help.

POPCORN We have supply of popcorn for sale at the school office. 25g bags for $1. Go to the office if you want some!!

UPDATE FROM REID Reid popped in for a visit last week to tell us all that he is on the road to recovery and looking forward to getting back to school.

COMMUNITY NOTICES FREE EAR CLINIC SERIVICE FOR CHILDREN The caravan will be at Waihi Central School, Moresby Avenue on Friday March 3rd and Friday 7th April 2017. 9.30-12 and12.45-1.30pm. Visit the ear nurse for advice on Glue ear assessment and management, Wax/foreign body removal, Grommet checks and treatment of discharging ears. All children must be accompanied by a caregiver. For enquiries regarding this service please contact 07 838 3565. Do you want to make a difference in a child’s life? Child, Youth and Family are currently looking for people in this area who can offer safe, caring, stable homes for young people in need of short term care, time out over weekends and/or holidays, or a home for life. Our team will support you to understand and manage the challenges of fostering a young person, and we will be there with you to celebrate the successes. You may be surprised; you could be just the right person to offer your care to a young person who needs you!
