As you’ll notice from our cover, this issue is just a little different. We wanted to reflect on the passing of DeLight Breidegam Jr, the founder of East Penn and someone who for a generation or more has underpinned the ethical, fair-minded and philanthropic side of the lead acid battery business.
On a less sombre note, the magazine’s news section looks at some of the surprising tales in the industry: Ray Kubis retiring from Eco-Bat and then taking up a directorship with Gridential, a truly exciting start-up; the challenge Microporous is throwing down to the big two players in the separator business; and not forgetting, the huge commitment that Johnson Controls is making into start-stop batteries.
In terms of features we profile several firms in the grid energy storage space that are clearly the ones to watch in the years ahead; we look at the business prospects of Latin America; and in our CEO interview we get behind the scenes of Younicos an energy storage firm offering a complete s
