Robot spider UNAD By: Engineer Fabian Bolivar Marin Tutor ECBTI CCAV Neiva

Today, science and technology open to us a number of innovations in the field of research. Robotics is the body of knowledge and skills that enable designing, implementing and automating systems based on mechanical structures polyarticular endowed with a certain degree of "intelligence" and for industrial production or the substitution of man in various tasks. Precisely, robotics is the branch of electronics that we marvel at its achievements and progress and has served to support human work, and today has thousands of robotic systems that facilitate actions in areas where humans hardly accessible. Project Development

UNAD has wanted to experiment, investigate and strengthen this field of action through the project "Intelligent Robotics Spider", project in the Electronic Engineering program at CCAV Neiva. Similarly, the project was developed to show the scope of the Electronics, promote research spirit in students and apply the knowledge acquired in the program, thus, build applications that support the research. The "Spider Intelligent Robotics" was developed through six modules, which include two main: 1. Design of the controller: The brain of this module is a microcontroller (integrated circuit that includes inside the three functional units of a computer such as the CPU, memory units and input / output), 18F4550 reference, who is responsible for directing and controlling the positioning and movement of the spider through the program recorded on it and information that it receives from the sensor units (made with infrared diode emitters and receivers), which have the function to identify the obstacles that the spider can encounter on its way and send this information to the microcontroller so that it can take decisions, execute

L inking D istances Publication of the South Zone UNAD

orders and thereby allow movement of the structure to avoid these obstacles. Thus, it achieves the level of intelligence of the spider, because it takes decisions independently executing movements that eventually allowed to dodge obstacles that may occur, similar to what a human do on a daily route. 2. Design of the structure: Although, it is the largest part of the spider, it just executes the orders given by the microcontroller. It is reflected in the movements of the structure, and especially, in the joints of the spider (6 in total).

SCHOOL DAY

Page 5

The project called "Intelligent Robotics Spider", was developed by the Electronic Engineering program at CCAV Neiva.

The joints of the spider were designed basing on servo motors (2 per joint) that simulate the movement of the legs of a real spider. A servo is a small device having a shaft whose movement is controlled by an electronic signal that can carry the device to be located at angular positions according to a code. In our project, this signal causes the microcontroller, the spider brain. It can be seen that at each joint, a servomotor generates a horizontal movement and the other generates a vertical motion, which results in the simulation of the leg of a real spider.

then to develop the design of a monitoring system to be applied to long term at the headquarters of the university, and a prototype to conduct exploration and research that feeds the innovative spirit and motivates the community to support such projects implemented in everyday aspects. With the base structure, we want to improve it and to make it suitable for traveling to places inaccessible to men. We also are looking for a wireless control to locate and direct the positioning of the prototype and a video system that allows display on a computer screen images taken by the camera that we pretend to install in the prototype robot.

Thus, with the articulation of two modules, there will be a structure that UNAD, precisely, being a pioneer in will move wisely according to its applying technology to develop its environment. methodology through information and telematic tools should encourage this Spider final structure of the type of projects that go according to its philosophy, and that explore in the field of Intelligent Robotics. research with application of useful tools From this initial prototype, the aim is such as robotic systems and automation,

resulting in the student community interest in science and technology. It is important, the support and commitment to this project of both students and tutors from Electronics Engineering program of CCAV Neiva. They are: FabiĂĄn MarĂn BolĂvar (Project Director and tutor CCAV Neiva), Engineer Manuel Alejandro Gutierrez (Tutor CCAV Neiva), Engineer Socrates Peter Fierro Tovar (Electronic Engineer degree from the Surcolombiana University of Neiva) Jhon Fabio Ramirez, a student of Electronic Engineering program CCAV Neiva, Jhon Jader Tovar, a student of Electronic Engineering program CCAV Neiva, Cesar Augusto Gomez, a student Electronic Engineering program CCAV Neiva.

From caregiver to be care, the current situation of families with sick people and/or disability status By: Andrea del Pilar Arenas Tutor ECSAH CEAD Ibague When we talk about patients according to disciplines and areas of health talk, it is a strictly welfare, the first thing you think is on sick people or on disability status, or some special situation, which under a previous diagnosis have lost some of their physical or psychological faculties. However, it is important to design the patient and / or disabled person as that one who has problems, also to think, or not forget all those who spend a high percentage of their time to care of them giving to their lives. The caregiver is the person in charge of take care of the basic and psychosocial patient needs, This person should denied his/her own needs. Most of the times, this is a person who works or should left his/her job because the new activity as a caregiver without a salary. Sometimes is the patient´s relative and has to acquire a lot of responsibility, even, never can be sick. A Spanish study about the caregivers profile said that "it responds most of the times to a female, mostly daughter or mother of the person served, with an age of 50 years. Only

one in ten children or parents who take care of his patients is male and a high percentage of these people spend more than 40 hours per week with the patient" which suggests a physical and emotional overload to develop this daunting task that can lead to loss of health. ccccccccccccc They, caregivers, they are human being as much as their patients, face a series of physical, mental, social, economic and altered to care the patient because of the work, which is known as Caregiver Syndrome; the most affected areas are: Physically because they suffer fatigue, headache and joint pains. The psychic, as evident depression, sleep disorders, anxiety, emotional lability and irritability. Socially, the decrease or loss of free time, loneliness and isolation and the job area because of absenteeism and lack of interest in the job, among others. ccccccccc This particular phenomenon is often ignored by professionals and experts advise that the ideal is to plan from the beginning the future of the dependent person and / or ill and the family's own environment, because

although, it requires the intervention of a caretaker in charge, this should have all the emotional support, family, psychological and social need to prevent overload and the onset of the syndrome which results not only for themselves, but the patient as it is achieved preserve their health by optimizing the family´s work, social and health care. ccccccccccccccccc

UNAD also paints with heart By: Angélica Bustos M. Psychology student CEAD Ibague

Since the month of August, the program "Paint you with the heart" has been operating in Ibague CEAD every Friday afternoon. This project involves more than twenty children, youth and adults with intellectual disabilities. The program was started as an initiative of the Fundación Unámonos, an organization that has worked for the equalization of opportunities and social integration of those human beings who have disabilities for ten years. It has also been working with UNAD thanks to institutional cooperation agreement signed two years ago between the institutions and aims to create opportunities for work experiences, through which students achieve skills to strengthen their social context with projection, by answering to the needs perceived by this population group. “Painting you with the heart", is a rehabilitation and inclusive workshop which allows proper management of leisure time of children, youth and adults in a position of intellectual disability. How much do social networks affect the academic performance on students? By: Engineer Franklin Lizcano Celis ECBTI Leader CEAD Florencia To d a y, s o c i a l networks play an important role in digital communic ation; by this way, the fact of publishing a thought, a picture or video is to share information with friends, colleagues and family; on the other hand, can be found people who may not have long known about them. In this case the question is does the community is, Is it good or not to use social networks?, As popular saying goes: "All good things in excess are bad". This implies that our students, are increasingly interested in these social networks that academia or research, put another way, the user wants to see and in turn know what their friends do, what they think and what they think of them; this has become a disease that affects the community, since they do not want to waste time in the virtual society that is being produced. In this generation we see that the language is foreign to the Castilian that our ancestors left us and if we review the language marked by symbols, numbers or special characters, students are using more and more because it is running on social networks. ÂżWhat brings involvement? Our students are forgetting good manners, good terms and on all the spelling and grammar of our Castilian. ccccccccccccccccccccccc ÂĄIt is advisable to use social

Vocational guidance: a need to enter at the UNAD By: Hector Aguilera Cuenca Academic Advisor CEAD Pitalito. Online M. Ed. UNAD Florida. Vocational guidance is a necessity historically identified in the educational context as the student reaches the end of secondary education with very little clarity to their work and professional choice; moreover, found mostly clueless against his life project, which is related to the developmental stage they are going through, with real weaknesses of opportunities in the medium and the lack of information and training as opposed to the typical contents of the vocational guidance, among other things. Historically, our students have entered without passing through a filter that allows them to certain clarity on the program selected from the UNAD, hence the important role of each counselor or support team fees, whose makes an initial assessment and monitoring to this process. Not having a proper career guidance and standard has generated many students enter our university without

being fully convinced of the chosen program and a high probability of unmotivated and drop out to find that this program is not to his real interest, that ultimately ends in desertion. In that vein, it is necessary to implement and consolidate a process of vocational guidance to enable students of the UNAD have clarity and confidence about the program in which they will register to avoid many life projects being truncated and allow that the dropout rate because of this decrease in the UNAD. In consideration of the above, the Academic Counseling of Cead Pitalito, is leading the project "Design and Implementation of a Vocational Guidance Program for applicants to National Open University and Distance - UNAD"; exercise that is done with a team of advisors nationally, including the Academic Counseling Cead Florence of the South Zone. ccccccccccccccccccccc

This project aims to unify and create tools for applicants and students to make an accurate choice of the program to choose according to their aptitudes and interests. To this end, it aims to promote the creation of a portal on the website of the university, so that applicants can get more information about each of the programs offered by the college, professional profile, career guidance test, links, supporting information and recommendations before enrolling. We also believe that this tool will allow a rapprochement between the University and the eleventh grade applicants and the general public, likewise, will also serve to promote the various programs, methodology and requirements for admission to the UNAD, among other elements of the portal. In this sense, we are filling a void and providing for the construction of life projects in line with the capabilities and interests of each of our students.
