Foreword Wagga Wagga is an exciting place to live. Our beautiful city is blossoming into a regional capital, with all the opportunities and challenges that come with change. This is a vibrant, multicultural place, with people from 112 nationalities calling our city and surrounding villages home, helping create the incredibly diverse culture we enjoy. At Wagga Wagga City Council, we take our responsibility to plan for, protect, represent, and honour every member of our community seriously. The Community Strategic Plan 2040 is Council’s blueprint of where we want to be in 2040 and how we’re going to get there. We’re growing, but we want to grow sustainably. We’re working to protect and enhance our natural areas for future generations, while creating a functional and attractive built environment that encourages an active and healthy community.
We’re creating and securing opportunities for our region, by attracting outside investment, while supporting our local business, industry, and entrepreneurs. Through strengthening and boosting our economy, we’re helping create a more secure, active and dynamic Riverina.
As our region’s growth brings opportunities, it also brings challenges. We’ve set in place plans to help our community navigate climate change, sustainability, community resilience, and social and community disadvantage. While we're happy to lead the way, we recognise that we can't do this alone. That's why we're working in partnership with local, state and federal governments, as well as industry stakeholder groups, to plan for and achieve the future our community expects and deserves. As diverse as we are, we have much in common. We work hard, take care of each other, and celebrate life. As our population grows towards 100,000, Council will continue working to bring every member of our community with us on our journey towards a bright and sustainable 2040.
