DUKE TIP

The Duke Talent Identification Program allows high-achieving students to participate in high school level testing. Seventh graders who perform in the top 5 percent nationally on part of a standardized test are invited to take the SAT or ACT along with high school juniors and seniors. The test gives students another data point of academic ability.

CHESS TEAM

Only in its third year, the ROBS Chess Team continues to impress, achieving status as the second best elementary chess team in its division at the 2019 Texas Scholastic Super State Chess Championships. The team also placed seventh in the state’s Elementary Grand Champion Team Standing.

NATIONAL SPANISH EXAM

The National Spanish Exam is administered to students in grades 6-12, most of whom are in high school. Students are evaluated with others taking the same level of Spanish, regardless of age or grade level. Gold medal winners place at or above the 95th percentile of students taking the exam. Silver medalists place between the 85th-94th percentile. Bronze medalists score between the 75th- 84th percentile.

STATE MATH AND SCIENCE CHAMPIONSHIP

Nine Raiders from the ROBS Math Club qualified for the Texas Math and Science Coaches Association state championship in San Antonio, which hosts more than 1,200 middle school students from across Texas.

YEARBOOK HONORS

In a publication almost solely recognizing college and high school yearbooks, the Balfour Yearbook Yearbook awarded ROBS an Honorable Mention for excellence in the production of the 2017-18 yearbook, the 11th consecutive ROBS yearbook to receive the award. The staff was led by Editor-in-Chief Kathryn Bragg and Assistant Editor Michelle Cai.

ROBS HAS GOT TALENT

More than 30 talented Middle School students performed in the annual ROBS variety show. This year’s show had it all—from standup comediennes to concert pianists, a ukulele master, and more. An illustrious panel of judges award the four top spots, while the students vote to determine “People’s Choice” winner.
