LEADERSHIP GIVING

Annual Report of Gifts 2015-2016

Leadership Giving We are pleased to recognize below the leadership donors who provided Riverdale with $50,000 or more in philanthropic support received between July 1, 2015, and June 30, 2016.ˆ

Thank You

Students participate in a mock trial organized by the Trial Advocacy Club, one of Riverdale’s many activity groups that give students a sense of agency and a dynamic outlet for their passions.

“It was an incredible opportunity,” says Nicole Beckman ’16. “We met with people who have very different perspectives on how to rebuild Detroit, including city council members, activists, urban farmers, artists, grassroots developers, and more traditional top-down real estate developers. I’m particularly interested in social justice and government—and maybe even running for office one day—so this experience was particularly inspiring.”

“Don’t be afraid of dreaming or imagining what can be. In a community, optimism and a shared sense of purpose become contagious.” JEFF VINIK ’77 / Owner, Tampa Bay Lightning and community development entrepreneur

Learning by example: How the work of alumni and parents models purpose Riverdale has a wealth of resources in the many members of our community who demonstrate purpose in their lives and work. Some of them, such as two of this year’s Class of 1957 Speakers, Peter Ellis ’57, an attorney who has spent years representing Guantanamo Bay detainees, and Clifford Ross ’70, a renowned multi-media artist, have come to campus to share their experiences with students. Others serve as mentors or inspire students through personal example.

“Finding purpose and meaning is a life-long pursuit. A Riverdale education, with its focus on character strengths, independent thinking, and experiential learning, is just the beginning,” says Dominic Randolph. “Our goal is to equip every Riverdale student to embrace the journey wherever it might lead.”

With sincere appreciation, we devote the remainder of this report to celebrating the many individuals who supported Riverdale in the past year with their gifts of philanthropic support, time, and talent.
