PUBLISHER’S LETTER

“IT’S THE MOST MAGICAL TIME OF THE YEAR!”
As a child, my parents really went above and beyond to make Christmas special for my brother, Bobby (now known by his adult name “Robert”) and I. We would hunt for the perfect tree to chop down, and then decorate it with ornaments that were given to us every year. We would go to our Nanny and Pappy’s home on Christmas Eve and spend time with the Steele side of the family, and then Grandma’s house to spend time with the Ivey crew on Christmas night. Christmas morning was always special; it was a time to wrestle Daddy out of bed while Mom took pictures, open our gifts, and spend the day playing with everything Santa had delivered.
As parents, Brian and I have tried to do the same for our family. The same ornaments I received as a child decorate our tree now, along with our children’s handmade ornaments and the ones they have received over the years. We spend time decorating the house, both inside and out, make a special breakfast on Christmas morning, and take time to visit family and friends. It is a joy seeing those who live out of town that are home for the holidays and we truly try to soak up every minute.
This year we have another reason to celebrate as my daughter, McKayla, is graduating in December from USC!!! We cannot begin to say how proud we are of her, her accomplishments, her determination, and her focus while attending college and working to support herself. She is not only a beauty, but brains too; she is a blessing to everyone she meets with her kindness and compassion. I know that God has a plan for her and I am excited to watch as she continues to do wonderful things.
I hope this Christmas everyone can find something to celebrate. I hope you spend time with loved ones and remember that Christmas is so much more than material gifts and gatherings. It is the day that many celebrate to recognize the birth of Jesus Christ, our King. So Merry Christmas my friends! May God bless you and your loved ones.
