C-House is a collaborative work of Team TUBSEU in the 2018SDC competition. In the design process, the team imagined C-House to be more than a solar-energy residential house for the competition, but a product with strong flexibility and ability of responding to the different demands in the real world.
Under this umbrella topic, our group explored the possibility and advantage of C-House to be a digital media exhibition space. In our opinion, C-House is not only a container of the exhibits but also part of them and resonant with sound, pictures, visitors to provide a rich and unique experience. Thanks to the rapid assembly technology, the interior surface of C-House can be quickly replaced, so suitable materials can be installed according to the exhibition. Thus, my group studied the relationship between material, pictures, sound, people, proposed a design example, and simulated the possible experience.

Sound, as an indicator of space quality, is also a critical element in the digital media exhibition. In this simulation, we discuss how sound could create a sense of presence and provide an immersive experience. We made two kinds of space, narrow space and open space, by sound in our thesis. To create a narrow space, we use materials that could absorb medium and high-frequency sound and reflect low-frequency sound. The result shows a nervous, tied, and dry quality. (Left) To create an open space, we use materials that could absorb low-frequency sound and reflect medium and high-frequency sound. The result shows a light, vacant quality. (Right)
