DANIEL J. RUPAR ’85 of

Stone Lake, Wisconsin, died Dec. 1, 2015. At Ripon, he studied business and was a member of Phi Kappa Pi fraternity, finishing his degree at Dominican University and earning his MBA at DePaul University. He worked in sales and owned a business representing manufacturers. He enjoyed boating, clay shooting, pheasant hunting, hockey and traveling. Survivors include his wife, Julie McNeil, 6824N Fleur de Lane, Stone Lake, WI 54876; and three daughters.

Merrill, Wisconsin, died Jan. 30, 2016. At Ripon, he studied politics & government and economics, and he earned a law degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He was a member of Phi Kappa Pi fraternity. He was a corporate and estate planning attorney and served as chair of the Trust and Estate Practice Group at Ruder Ware. He was an avid cyclist, hiker, mountain climber and adventurous vacationer, and was active in the Wausau community, serving on the YMCA board for 20 years. Survivors include his wife Deborah Rupar, W4445 Eagle Ridge Lane, Merrill, WI 54452; and two daughters.

THOMAS R. PAPENTHIEN ’77 of Waunakee, Wisconsin, died Dec. 1, 2015. At Ripon, he studied economics and was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. He received his MBA from Washington University. He had a 40-year career in banking, recently retiring from Bankers’ Bank in Madison where he served as CEO and president. He enjoyed skiing, golfing, boating and four-wheeling. Survivors include one son and one daughter.

SANDRA K. GEHLER ’79 of Killeen, Texas, died Feb. 14, 2016. At Ripon, she studied art and business education. She was involved with Officer Wives’ Clubs and Army Community Service during her husband’s military career, and was a leader in Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. She worked at Dillard’s in the children’s department and retired as a human resource manager. She was active in her church and enjoyed sewing, painting, stamping, genealogy, gardening and traveling. Survivors include her husband, Stanley Gehler, 406 Terrapin Drive, Killeen, TX 76542; one son and one daughter.

JAMES A. WAISBROT ’88 of Stevens Point, Wisconsin, died Nov. 2, 2015. At Ripon, he studied business management and German. He earned an additional degree in web and digital media development from the University of WisconsinStevens Point.

ELIZABETH CLARK JOHNSON ’97 of West Bend, Wisconsin, died March 22, 2016. At Ripon, she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority and played soccer. She was an educator and enjoyed bowling, tennis and traveling. Survivors include her husband, Korey Johnson.

THOMAS “PETE” P. WINN III ’79 of Rolesville, North Carolina, died March 7, 2015. At Ripon, he studied politics and government and was a member of Theta Chi fraternity. He worked for 30 years as a journalist, most notably with Focus on the Family and CNSNews.com. He loved music, was an avid reader, and volunteered as a radio announcer. Survivors include his wife, Margaret Winn, 509 Fish Pond Court, Rolesville, NC 27571.
