Following McClellan’s Drawing Workbook approach, this drawing class will teach the fundamentals and help artists in any 2D medium develop their skills and abilities to create successful artworks. Classes also examine ways to work through arising challenges during the creation of your personal masterpieces.

(INTERMEDIATE – ADVANCED) THURSDAYS: 1 – 3 PM (4-CLASS SERIES) NON MEMBER: $125 MEMBER: $100 January 7, 14, 21, 28 February 4, 11, 18, 25 March 4, 11, 18, 25 April 1, 8, 15, 22 Learn fundamentals and how to make effective choices for drawing and painting human gestures. Students will be introduced to artistic styles, various compositions, various media, and techniques for figurative elements.

This introduction will highlight the features, techniques, and style of the longer format Urban Sketching series. Experiment through limitation and capture simple gesture with loose pen and ink and watercolor washes. This course is designed to build confidence as you simplify shapes, learn how to use watercolor glazes (washes), and finish with a working knowledge and vocabulary of the watercolorist. What could be more rewarding than to develop your sketches into a set of greeting cards perfect for sending or to frame! Watercolor and basic drawing experience beneficial but not required.
