Mayor’s Letter

Since taking office as mayor in April of 2019, my top priority is to protect and enhance the lives and livelihoods of the residents of the Incorporated Village of Malverne. I am proud to lead our remarkable Village, which is widely recognized for its charming appeal, picturesque downtown shops and restaurants, and beautiful parks.

As we celebrate the centennial of the incorporated village, I am excited about our continued growth. Over the past few years, we have attracted many new and exciting businesses which have set up shop in our business district along Hempstead Avenue, Church Street and Broadway. We continue to attract people from surrounding communities for the annual Art Walk, Memorial Day Parade and Holiday Lighting celebration.

Visitors and residents alike will notice the American Flags and beautiful hanging baskets that line our downtown. We are particularly proud of the latest addition, the Veterans Honor Banners that are displayed from Memorial Day through Veterans Day, commemorating the military service and sacrifice of our residents.

In the next year we anticipate the completion of a new state of the art police headquarters in the heart of the village as well as major transformations to Whalen Field.

Sincerely,

Keith Corbett Mayor

At the Crossroads:

A community farm and so much more

Anyone arriving in Malverne from the north will no doubt have seen Crossroads Farm at Grossman’s, the only farm operating in all of Nassau County. Situated at the crossroads of Malverne’s main thoroughfares at Hempstead and Ocean Avenues, the farm is the first landmark to greet countless people entering Malverne. Long a Malverne staple, the farm was owned by the Grossman family for over 100 years. Purchased by Nassau County and operated by the Nassau Land Trust since 2010, Crossroads Farm’s dedicated staff and volunteers have renovated its buildings and transformed it into a thriving, all-organic agricultural hub.

The farm hosts a wide array of engaging events for folks of all ages throughout the warmer months. along with special programming throughout the entire year. Its farm stand is a popular destination for locals and well as those from neighboring communities interested in seasonal produce and other goodies.

An array of items entices visitors: Plants, seedlings, and other products straight from the farm; open every Friday from 3 to 6 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Everyone flocks to Crossroads for the farmers market, where other local vendors come to offer their wares, every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Crossroads also has active schedule of seasonal and special events. Among the most popular, the site has hosted Malverne Community Theatre throughout the years,
