Welcome to Baldwin Schools
The Baldwin Union Free School District has roughly 5,500 students in grades kindergarten to 12, from almost all areas of Baldwin as well as some parts of Freeport, Rockville Centre and South Hempstead. The five elementary schools, one middle school for grades six, seven and eight, and one high school for grades nine to 12 made the transition chal lenging to full online learning in March because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The school district has taken the unforeseen obstacles and — through virtual classrooms, comprehensive learning packets and a supportive com munity — continued to educate its students.
The school board consists of five elected members who serve threeyear terms without pay and act as the community’s representatives to the district. Board elections and budget votes are held each May. Additionally, the board is responsible for the district’s annual operating budget.
The board meets on the first Wednesday of each month. Board meet ings for the 2020-21 school year are updated on the Baldwin School District website at baldwinschools.org and are currently virtual.
