Smile all summer at Camp Anchor
Camp Anchor in Lido Beach, which serves about 1,200 children and adults who have special needs, is up and running and offering a variety of programs. The camp features programs like bowling, cooking and fitness classes, among many others. Additionally, the staff also has a newsletter. Camp Anchor hosts fundraisers throughout the year, which can be found at campanchor.org.
Camp ANCHOR, the Town of Hempstead's sixweek day camp program, will serve 720 children and adults with special needs throughout the summer. Camp participants enjoy an array of athletic, aquatic and cultural programs, as well as field trips and special events. This comprehensive recreational day camp will be available to eligible participants who are 5 years of age and older. Transportation is provided. Registration fee required.
Program: Six-week program runs Monday to Friday at Lido Beach Town Park.
They are recruiting new volunteers for the summer 2022 camp season after not being able to last year. The volunteer program is very competetive and therefore those interested can only be placed on the waitlist two times per year. To be a volunteer those interested must be at least 14 years of age by July 1.
