Mother’s Day Mosaic Planter - Take and Make (F.S.)
From 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the parking lot of the Franklin Square Public Library, Join us for a free paper shredding event in the Library parking lot, sponsored by the Friends of the Library. There is no limit on how much you can shred. You will need to take home any containers you bring.
From May 27 to June 30 at 10 a.m. each day, make a handmade (belated) Mother’s Day gift for your mother using the take and make kits and instructional video! Provided by the Franklin Square Public Library. Visit the library’s website at https://www.franklinsquarepl.org/ to register.
Project Hope (F.S.) Join Project Hope at the Franklin Square Public Library between 11 a.m. and 12 p.m. at a table on the ground floor of the library where Project Hope will be providing helpful information. The organization has an emotional support helpline, educational materials, trusted referrals, and local provider agencies that \are “all dedicated to helping you manage and cope with changes brought on by COVID-19… NY Project Hope Crisis Counselors understand what you are going through. Talking with them is free, confidential, and anonymous. Talk with someone who is trained, knowledgeable and never judges. Sometimes it’s helpful to talk with someone you don’t know.” Project Hope recommends looking at the articles on their website (to learn relaxation techniques or coping tips) if you are not able to speak in person. From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Wesley United Methodist Church, located at 619 Fenworth Blvd. in Franklin Square, an outdoor flea market will be held, with $35 being charged per vendor space. The F.S. Chamber of Commerce is holding a business networking event on June 9. Carrie Solages is running for the congressional seat being vacated by Kathleen Rice. The F.S. Museum has a 3,000 yr. old spear that may show a Native American presence in F.S. This year’s Paul Sapienza/Belmont Parade, set for June 4, is the 14th annual. The budgets for all three schools districts that serve Elmont and F.S. students were passed.
