Remember field days during elementary school where you’d play games with your friends all day outside? Unleash your inner child and relive the good old days at the inaugural PHX Field Day. The event, which started in D.C., is aiming for close to 500 attendees at the first Phoenix event, which takes place May 18 at Margaret T. Hance Park in Downtown Phoenix. Organized by PHX Fray of United Fray, the field day is a nostalgic throwback to grade school, built with adults in mind. “Get ready for classic games with an adult twist! Expect sack races, tug of war, an obstacle course, and a few surprises,” says Martin Espinoza, senior director of events for United Fray. “In case that’s not enough to look forward to, we will have food trucks, a bar, and a Field Day market with samples and swag for you and your team Additional games include Dizzy Flip Cup, Giant Speed Pong, Life Size Bowling, a Giant Obstacle Course and more. Dang
Brother Pizza food truck will be one of the vendors on-site, bringing authentic, woodfired pizza to the event, and drinks will flow all day at the bar (until 4 p.m.) with music from DJ Cupcake. And for the teams who dominate on the field? “The winners will get Fray player credits for future league and events, other fun prizes, and, of course, bragging rights,” Espinoza says. To make a team, all you need is six or more players. Teams can be coed and there is no required gender ratio. Don’t have a team? Sign up as a small group or solo and PHX Fray will match you with others to make a complete team. This is just one of the many events that PHX Fray hosts. Registration for the event opens at 11 a.m. and there will be time to warmup and eat lunch before the games begin. From 3:45 to 5 p.m., there will be a scores and awards celebration. Uptown May ‘19
