t’s the thought that counts, so make Mom count this Mother’s Day (Sunday, May 14) by planning ahead! Here are some of the most delicious ways to toast her this year.
elements For a meal Mom won’t soon forget, splurge on a feast prepared by Beau MacMillan, one of the most decorated chefs in the Southwest. For Mother’s Day, he has developed a threecourse, fixed-price menu available from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. featuring eye-popping items to choose from course by course, including duck confit and sweet potato hash, lobster pot pie with fingerling potatoes, zinfandel-braised short ribs, and a triple chocolate mousse tower. The Westin Kierland Resort & Spa A longtime Mother’s Day staple for many Scottsdale families, each year the resort transforms its Trailblazers Ballroom into a special party pavilion for moms, complete with live music and Champagne. The iconic brunch, available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., includes a host of items ranging from buildyour-own omelets to fresh seafood selections such as jumbo gulf shrimp, Alaskan crab legs, and Bangs Island Mussels to a carving table with slow-roasted beef tenderloin. Freshly made salads, crab cakes, pastas, side dishes and a magnificent dessert station round out the offerings. The House Brasserie also features an extensive selection of hand-pressed cocktails and eclectic wine and beer lists, plus housemade limoncello and cinnamon whiskey as well as a mimosa cart. Tavern Americana The friendly neighborhood tavern – popular among foodies and families alike – is hosting a Mother’s Day menu from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. with twists on traditional brunch fare including banana and Nutella crepes and cornflakeencrusted French toast, as well as everyday favorites including omelets, breakfast potatoes and fresh fruit.
