Good golly, this Loli! While the menu at J’s Kaiyo Sushi + Bar has no shortage of fresh flavors, its Loli Roll ($15) by chefs Jason McGrath and Todd Register is especially inspired, both to the eye and taste buds. It starts with raw cuts of bigeye tuna, yellowtail and salmon – each flown in fresh daily from all over the world – as well as avocado. The chefs then carefully slice English cucumbers, using thin sheets of the vegetable in place of traditional rice to delicately roll it all together. It’s topped with a drizzle of housemade, citrusinfused ponzu and black sesame seeds for texture. They plate it differently each day, using everything from orchids to lemon flowers from the Valley’s Twisted Infusions Farms. J’s Kaiyo Sushi + Bar, 4412 N.
