A GOURMET CELEBRATION
The sixth annual AZ Wine & Dine highlights the region’s resort restaurants BY ALISON BAILIN BATZ
S
ure, the golf here is great. But what really keeps travelers coming back to Arizona each year? Our resorts – and their restaurants. “From world-class cuisine to some of the globe’s best wine lists, Arizona’s resorts have what it takes to attract more than 36 million travelers annually,” says Kim Sabow, president and CEO of the Arizona Lodging & Tourism Association. “For us, it was important to give our local community the chance to experience all we have to offer so we created AZ Wine & Dine.” This premier gathering of hoteliers, business leaders and food connoisseurs provides a one-of-a-kind opportunity to taste the culinary creations of Arizona’s top chefs from luxe resort restaurants.

“Our resort dining scene is superb and enjoyed by both local residents and national and international visitors,” Sabow says. “AZ Wine & Dine provides an opportunity to meet these resort chefs and enjoy their culinary art in a vibrant, energetic setting. As Arizonans, we have access to this in our backyard 365 days of the year, and that’s what this evening celebrates.” Participating resorts set to serve up some of their most buzzworthy plates, each expertly pre-paired with handchosen local, regional and international wines, include: • Artizen Crafted American Kitchen & Bar at The Camby Hotel • Flourish at CopperWynd Resort & Club • Bourbon Steak at Fairmont Scottsdale Princess • Stonegrill at JW Marriott Phoenix Desert Ridge Resort & Spa • J&G Steakhouse at The Phoenician • Different Pointe of View at Pointe Hilton Tapatio Cliffs Resort • T. Cook’s at Royal Palms Resort and Spa Given the event takes place at Scottsdale Quarter, many of the shopping center’s restaurants will also join in the foodie fun. The event will also include live music by Nate Nathan and MacDaddyO’s Band, boutique vintages of wines, a silent auction, craft beer, and, of course, the chance to mix and mingle with some of the state’s top culinary talent in an intimate setting. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the educational efforts of the Arizona Lodging & Tourism Association.
