April 3, 2018 The wish of Thomas N Nee, Sr., age 91 of Richland Center, was to die on the farm on which he was born. He died Tuesday, April 3, 2018, on the farm, with the care and support of his wife, children, and Agrace Hospice. Tom was born on June 25, 1926, to John and Lena (Klos) Nee, the first son and middle of seven children. Attending a dance at the Rainbow Room in Spring Green, Tom noticed a pretty young woman. Her name was Beverly A. Miller and they were married September 16, 1950. Together they successfully improved and expanded the farm operation while raising 8 children. Tom served on various boards and committees during his farming career and received herd and conservation awards for his farming practices. He enjoyed hunting in Wisconsin and Colorado, fishing in Canada and Texas, sports, and especially, having a good time with family and friends. Tom and Beverly traveled many miles to many places in their camper and were snow birds in Texas for 30 years. The only time his feet left the ground was to visit Hawaii and Ireland. Tom is survived by his wife of 67 years Beverly; children Mary (Ric Piasecki ) Nee of Richland Center, Elizabeth (Lewis) Maxey of Indianapolis, IN, Thomas (Jennifer Tkachuk) Nee Jr. of Richland Center, Patricia (Jim) Bailey

of Richland Center, Barbara (Curt) Haluska of Waunakee, Kathleen (Lonnie) Wallace of Delavan, Michael (Judy) Nee of Dundee and Teresa (Randy Holtz) Nee-Holtz of Baraboo; 15 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Tom is further survived by his sister Geraldine Kennah of Lander, Wyoming and brother John Nee of Richland Center. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Mary Turgasen, Elizabeth Adsit, Susan Gorman; brother Bernard “Mike” Nee; and daughter-in-law Jeanne Nee. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, April 10, 2018, at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, 160 W 4th St., Richland Center. Monsignor Roger Scheckel and Monsignor Michael Gorman will concelebrate with burial in the church cemetery. A visitation at Stafford Funeral Home, 1235 Hwy 14 West, Richland Center, was held from 4-7 pm on Monday, April 9th and again at the church on Tuesday, from 10:00 am until the Mass at 11:00 am. The family suggests memorials in Tom’s name be directed to The Richland Hospital or Pine Valley Community Village foundations and Agrace Hospice. “A loved one from us has gone A voice we love is stilled A place is vacant in our home Which will never be filled Sleep loved one, sleep in peace.” Online condolences available at www. staffordfuneralhomes.com. The Stafford Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.

ERMA A. FRY

April 4, 2018 The last chapter in the life of Erma A. Fry closed on April 4, 2018, just 25 days short of her 98th birthday. Born in Marshall Township to Loyal and Emma (Hatfield) Marshall, she grew up surrounded by family. Erma attended Richland Center High School and achieved a teaching certificate from Richland County Normal. While teaching at the Oak Ridge one room school, she met her lifelong love, and partner in 75 years of marriage, Gerald C. Fry. When asked the secret for a long marriage, Erma said, “A good marriage is give and take, mostly give…” Gerald and Erma worked side-by-side in the cheese making business for 49 years, retiring at the Sylvan Creamery Company in 1978. Their exceptional retirement was filled with many happy times with family and friends on Red Cedar Lake, camping in their RV, and going fishing at the crack of dawn! They also enjoyed playing cards, snowmobiling, and traveling to Canada, Alaska, and the west coast in the RV. Home making and family were her true passions. She was a member of the Sylvan Homemakers for 50 years. Her delicious family meals with homemade bread and pie, bountiful garden and fragrant roses delighted many. Her door was always open and her cookie jar was full. Erma kept a daily diary

adno=567979-01

for 61 years, which she was very proud that she never missed a day! She loved visiting the Parker Centennial Farm for family gatherings. Erma is survived by her husband Gerald; daughter Alice (Clinton) Soule; three grandchildren Danny (Lori) Fry, Deborah (Kevin) McCoy, Tammy Fry (Walter Judy); three great-grandchildren Bill (Ashley) Fry, Michael (Amber) McCoy, and James McCoy; six great-great-grandchildren Dominyk and MariJessy Fry, Bradley, Aliyah, Tatum, and Kevin “Harry” McCoy; along with sisters-in-law Hazel Marshal and Fern Bingham; many nieces and nephews; dear friends Norma and the late Jim Waldsmith, Jeanette and Jon Kaderavek, and special neighbors Nate, Barbara, Logan, and Brenna Olson; all her Parker cousins. She was preceded in death by her son and daughter-inlaw Frederick and Mary Fry; great-granddaughter Heather Fry; her siblings and in-laws LaVern (Gerry) Marshall, Raymond Marshall, James (Patricia) Marshall, Marvel (Donald) Gerhardt, and Amy (Melvin) Crary. Erma will long be remembered for her unwavering faith, her great strength and impeccable character, and beautiful smile. God bless the memory of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. A Celebration of Erma’s Wonderful Life will be held at the Clary Memorial Funeral Home on Monday, April16, 2018, at Noon with Ron Fruit officiating. Burial will be held in the Richland Center Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 16, 2018, at the Clary Memorial Funeral Home from 10:00 AM until the time of service. On line condolences can be made at www.clarymemorialfuneralhome.com.

1. *No person will be allowed to appear before the board of review, to testify to the board by telephone, or to contest the amount of any assessment of real or personal property if the person has refused a reasonable written request by certified mail of the assessor to enter onto property to conduct an exterior view of such property being assessed. 2. After the first meeting of the board of review and before the board’s final adjournment, no person who is scheduled to appear before the board of review may contact or provide information to a member of the board about the person’s objection, except at a session of the board. Open book shall occur no less than 7 days prior to the board of review. 3. The board of review may not hear an objection to the amount or valuation of property unless, at least 48 hours before the board’s first scheduled meeting, the objector provides to the board’s clerk written or oral notice of an intent to file an objection, except that upon a showing of good cause and the submission of a written objection, the board shall waive that requirement during the first 2 hours of the board’s first scheduled meeting, and the board may waive that requirement up to the end of the 5th day of the session or up to the end of the final day of the session if the session is less than 5 days with proof of extraordinary circumstances for failure to meet the 48-hour notice requirement and failure to appear before the board of review during the first 2 hours of the first scheduled meeting. 4. Objections to the amount or valuation of property shall first be made in writing and filed with the clerk of the board of review within the first 2 hours of the board’s first scheduled meeting, except that, upon evidence of extraordinary circumstances, the board may waive that requirement up to the end of the 5th day of the session or up to the end of the final day of the session if the session is less than 5 days. The board may require objections to the amount or valuation of property to be submitted on forms approved by the Department of Revenue, and the board shall require that any forms include stated valuations of the property in question. Persons who own land and improvements to that land may object to the aggregate valuation of that land and improvements to that land, but no person who owns land and improvements to that land may object only to the valuation of that land or only to the valuation of improvements to that land. No person may be allowed in any action or proceedings to question the amount or valuation of property unless the written objection has been filed and that person in good faith presented evidence to the board in support of the objections and made full disclosure before the board, under oath, of all of that person’s property liable to assessment in the district and the value of that property. The requirement that objections be in writing may be waived by express action of the board. 5. When appearing before the board of review, the objecting person shall specify in writing the person’s estimate of the value of the land and of the improvements that are the subject of the person’s objection and specify the information that the person used to arrive at that estimate. 6. No person may appear before the board of review, testify to the board by telephone, or object to a valuation if that valuation was made by the assessor or the objector using the income method of valuation, unless no later than 7 days before the first meeting of the board of review the person supplies the assessor with all the information about income and expenses, as specified in the assessor’s manual under s. 73.03 (2a), Wis. stats., that the assessor requests. The Town of Orion has an ordinance for the confidentiality of information about income and expenses that is provided to the assessor under this paragraph that provides exceptions for persons using information in the discharge of duties imposed by law or the duties of their officer or by order of a court. The information that is provided under this paragraph, unless a court determines before the first meeting of the board of review that it is inaccurate, is not subject to the right of inspection and copying under s. 19.35 (1), Wis. Stats. 7. No person may appear before the board of review, testify to the board by telephone, or contest the amount of any assessment unless, at least 48 hours before the first meeting of the board, or at least 48 hours before the objection is heard if the objection is allowed under s.70.47 (3) (a), Wis. stats., that person provides to the clerk of the board of review notice as to whether the person will ask for the removal of a member of the board of review and, if so, which member, and provides a reasonable estimate of the length of time the hearing will take.
