Richard Burry

Richard Burry is the founder and CEO of Smartvu Ltd., an international investment company that specializes in online e-commerce businesses. With more than three decades of digital experience, he has led Internet-based ventures, applied new innovations to existing businesses, and discovered e-commerce investment opportunities worldwide. He is also the founder of online development business Web Krew S.A., which provided services in website design, web hosting, SEO, emails, webcams and directories. Prior to that, he was Director of PC Interactive Services for Shaw Communications. There, he led operations for a residential Internet service provided to customers over high-speed cable modems. He managed sales, marketing, content development, installation, finance, technology, maintenance and customer support. Richard Burry was also Director of Information Systems for CUC Broadcasting Ltd., where he managed the information systems of a 500-person broadcasting business. Previously, he served as a Computer Services Manager, LAN Analyst and PC Analyst for William Neilson Limited. He maintained and managed AS/400, PC LAN/WAN, data and telecommunications systems at this $190 million manufacturing business. He was also an Information Systems Consultant with John Forsyth Trading, where he designed a multi-user sales system used for order entry, planning, manufacturing, delivery and inventory; and was responsible for installation of a LAN connecting a System 38 minicomputer, remote and local PCs, fax machines, barcode printers and an SL1 PBX. Early in his career, he served as a programmer and analyst for Peridigm, where he developed custom software packages that streamlined accounting, barcoding, scheduling and inventory for an array of business clients. Richard Burry’s outdoor passions include sailing, swimming and biking. He also enjoys poker, board games, American football and flying remote-controlled drones. Other interests include art, music and traveling the world.
