3 Reasons to Give
AROUND THE SCHOOL
Heather Kopecky Rice MBA ‘00
A member of the first graduating class of Rice MBA for Executives, Heather Kopecky witnessed the Jones School’s pioneering efforts to make a difference within a highly diverse group of students. She appreciated the knowledge and growth she experienced while in the program, but had no idea the vital role it would play in the future of health care delivery. A senior client partner at Korn/Ferry International and a member of the firm’s Global Healthcare Services Practice, she earned a PhD from Texas Women’s University and a BSN and MSN from University of Texas Health Sciences Center. These are three reasons why Heather gives:
1 Passion I feel passionate about giving to projects and organizations that provide access to knowledge — an inherent right and an imperative need of all people. Knowledge makes a difference in individuals, connects them with their communities and results in global breakthroughs. Philanthropy is an important instrument for generating new knowledge.
2 Service Having grown up professionally in the Texas Medical Center, and later the business world, I have been the recipient of a great deal of philanthropy. Whether it was the time mentors spent with me, the talent of other’s with whom I practiced, or specialized funding for scholarship and research, philanthropy was given from the hearts of others and created change in my life personally and professionally. This change has helped me to be of service to others as a nurse, a community volunteer, and a global business person.
3 Transformation What are your values and what are the issues you are passionate about? Is it possible the Jones School is aligned with you? If so, be intentional and give what you can so that the school can continue to be transformational.
