s pranchas e descrições das espécies são fáceis de serem consultadas e auxiliam a identificação prévia, em campo. Os textos complementam as imagens e são direcionadas às características mais marcantes e informativas. As plantas coletadas podem ser comparadas com as fotos, mas é mais fácil seguir a chave de gêneros apresentada na página 52 e então fazer uma comparação dentre as espécies dos possíveis gêneros. Ao coletar uma samambaia ou licófita, não se esqueça de pegar também um pedaço do caule ou rizoma. Os nomes das espécies seguem as regras da linguagem botânica. Os nomes das famílias botânicas sempre possuem a terminação -aceae. Como as relações evolutivas entre as espécies ainda estão em discussão, preferimos apresentar as espécies em ordem alfabética, e não organizadas em gêneros ou famílias. Algumas espécies podem ser posicionadas em outras famílias no futuro.

he descriptions and plates of the species are easily consulted and help to verify field identifications while in the field. The texts complement to the pictures and are directed to the most informative and typical characters. A collected plant can be directly compared to the plates but it is easier to follow the key to genus (pg. 52) and then to compare the possible species of the genera. Do not forget to collect the stem or rhizome of ferns and lycophytes. Species are presented in alphabetical order. Names of the species follow rules of botanical nomenclature. The suffix of botanical families is always -aceae. But the evolutionary relationships between species and genera of these plants are doubtful. In the future, some species may be moved to another family or genus. 47
