Das Rhönradturnen ist eine einzigartige Symbiose aus Dynamik, Beweglichkeit und Emotionalität. Im Sprung, im Spiraleturnen und im Geradeturnen zeigen die Sportler ihre Übungen. Bewertet werden Ausdruck, Ausführung und Schwierigkeit. // Wheel gymnastics represents a unique symbiosis of dynamic movement, agility and emotion. The gymnasts compete in the disciplines of vault, spiral and straight-line, and are judged on the basis of musical interpretation, technical execution and difficulty.
// Wheel gymnastics is a multi-faceted sport, and its shows never cease to fascinate spell-bound audiences, whereby artistic feeling and innovation play as important a role as the acrobatic elements. And then there is the solo wheel – a development of the gymnastic wheel, with only one rim – that brings with it a new range of possibilities for athletes.

Das Rhönrad ist facettenreich, bei Shows fasziniert es immer wieder die staunenden Zuschauer. Dabei spielen neben den akrobatischen Elementen auch künstlerisches Gespür und Innovativität eine Rolle. So bietet das Solorad - eine Weiterentwicklung des Rhönrades mit nur einem Reifen - für die Sportler ganz neue Bewegungsmöglichkeiten.

// In 1925 the German, Otto Feick, designed the “Rhönrad” (gymnastic wheel) by tying two barrel rims together in order to roll down hills, but it was not until 1990 that the first international association - Fédération Internationale de Rhönrad (FIRR) – was founded. In 1995 this became the International Wheel Gymnastics Federation (Internationaler Rhönradturn-Verband / IRV).

1925 erfand der Deutsche Otto Feick das Rhönrad, als er zwei Fassreifen miteinander verband, um damit Berghänge hinabzurollen. Erst 1990 wurde der erste internationale Verband - die Fédération Internationale de Rhönrad - gegründet. 1995 ging daraus der Internationale Rhönradturn-Verband (IRV) hervor.
