Evaluation 5 How did you attract/address your audience? To attract my audience to my media product I used features such as pugs, interesting cover lines, models, also images and boosters etc. By using these several customs allows my music magazine to appeal to my audience. For the front cover of magazine I used a medium close- up to emphasise a direct address to the consumer. Furthermore by using this camera shot, shows the costume and allows consumers to relate to the model because they may have a similar dress code to her. The magazines I had researched usually use medium close-up and close ups of their artists this may be to attract the consumer, parallel to what I was trying to achieve. For example below are some images that use this camera shot from the magazines the source and vibe.
Furthermore, I had the chance to create a booster/pug advertising free Rihanna tickets. By using a very successful singer that has a huge influence would attract my audience to consuming my magazine. Making my very first pug was admittedly challenging because I was not confident using Photoshop however gradually I got use to it and added effects such as a peel and a drop shadow surrounding it. I believe having a pug definitely grabs reader’s eyes especially on a front cover as that’s the main custom that will attract a consumer from buying the magazine or not.
To attract my audience to my front cover I had used similar colour schemes within gradient styles comparing with vibe magazine. For example vibe magazine has a radial of light blue in the middle and dark blue based around it. What I decided to do was imitate that idea and have a radial of yellow in the middle with orange surrounding it. In my opinion by having a radial it emphasises the main picture enabling my model to be attracting the audience. In addition I used bright colours to attract readers if I had used dull tedious colours it probably wouldn’t have the effect. Here is an image of how my magazine looked before I had improved it. As you can see the colour is quite depressing and boring in comparison to the new and improved front cover which is vivid and bright in terms of attraction I believe that the second magazine cover is hugely superior then the first.

The copy on the front cover of magazine has been left/right justified similar to The Source magazine cover which usually justifies their copy. I have also used a caption explaining the cover of my magazine which makes it clear to the audience why the model is on the front cover. The masthead is bold and stands out very clearly. I have edited in the software InDesign to create a drop shadow, colour scheme, and a stroke effect. The copies of the headlines fonts are in orange and the stroke in white, and below that the copy of the font is black with a white stroke. I have also included a strapline to introduce other artists that are going to be featured in the magazine this, I consider an attraction to the audience as there may be a possibility that one of those in artist within the strapline are likeable to an consumer. Lastly the website to the magazine is on the front cover. I used an inner glow and a drop shadow to complete the look using InDesign. This would attract the audience because it gives them accessibility to an online feature which may be useful for them.
