Anzac Day; one of the most important events in the Australian calendar. It is a solemn day of remembrance of those Australian and New Zealand Army Corps soldiers who fought and died at Gallipoli in 1915. This year’s Anzac Day Service saw some 300 members, sub clubs and local community march from Bankstown YMCA down Macarthur Avenue to Revesby Workers’ Club, followed by a Service at the Cenotaph. Attendees were invited for a post service refreshment in The Function Centre, before joining in on a traditional game of Two Up in Rogues Sports Bar.

Wayne was also a huge Rabbitoh’s fan and after a hard day’s work, you would often find him sharing a beer with his mates in the Sports Bar, watching a game of footy.

Wayne’s service, was well attended by family, friends and colleagues on 25 May 2023 and followed by a wake at Revesby Workers’ Sports Club where Club President, Daryl Melham announced that a plaque in acknowledgment of Wayne’s commitment to Revesby Workers’ would be befittingly placed on a garden bed at the main entrance.

Vale Wayne Leonard Steele; on 25 April 2023, the Revesby Workers’ community, sadly lost a dear colleague and friend, Wayne Steele. Wayne’s passing, after a brief illness, was sudden and unexpected.

Wayne started at the Club in 1987 as a Gardener with the Facilities Team, more than 36 years ago. During this time, Wayne was well known as an incredibly dedicated, hardworking and loyal member of the Revesby Workers’ family. Rain, hail or shine, Wayne would be outside performing his tasks with the

Trading Floor Renovations; to minimise disruption to our members and guests, this project was completed over five (5) stages, with the last stage completed in late May. The new area was carefully designed, providing a more spacious and comfortable environment.

A renovation of this size takes a great deal of collaboration and planning between staff and tradesmen to ensure the project is executed in a timely manner and completed on schedule.

We thank our members and guests for their patience and congratulate our Executive Manager of Gaming, Allison Gibbons and her team for the effort and significant time they have put into this project.

Membership Numbers; following multiple years of disruption caused by COVID, this financial year saw a stabilisation in membership numbers month on month, which rounded out the total number of financial members at 30 June 2023 to 68,454.

Thank you to my fellow Directors, our dedicated staff and to all members for their continued support over the past year.
