Children as full Members at St. Augustine’s To Parents of young children may we suggest:: 1.Relax! God put the wiggle in children – don’t feel you have to suppress it in God’s house. 2. Feel free to sit near the front so your children can see, or let them stand or move forward to get a better view. 3. There is a basket of quiet toys at the back a rocking chair for parents with infants, and a carpeted area for play. We have children’s bulletins for toddlers and school-age kids, & crayons. 4. There is nursery care downstairs at 10, but children are always welcome at worship, and to receive Communion from baptism at any age. If you seek baptism for yourself or your child, speak to the Rector. (782-0587) Children should feel at home and nourished in God’s house!

5. At the toddling stage, soft slippers can reduce your worry about making noise. A burbling infant is not a disruption to prayer but part of the prayer of the whole community. If you need to step out with your child, do come back!

6. Explain quietly parts of the service to children, and help them find pages, but most children learn best by listening and imitating what you do week by week.

7. Sunday school offers school-age children a service of the word tailored for them, but studies show that the most important factor in the faith and church attendance of adults is whether they felt welcome in adult worship with their parents!

8. Children desiring to be trained as acolytes may speak to the Rector. Children may also help usher, bring up the offering, and read lessons according to their ability and desire.
