My Trip To An ER Under The New Emergency Regime In Winnipeg

At 2:30 p.m. on December 6, 2017, I fell in my kitchen and knew from the ensuing pain that I had broken my hip. With great “What medications are you presently taking?” Because of workshops that have been presented in the past, I had an E.R.I.K (Emergency difficulty, I was able to reach the cord of my cell phone that was charging and plugged into the stove, phone my daughter, who arrived shortly after, with her husband and called 911. The adventure of a lifetime began!

I was treated effectively, efficiently and with care by the two paramedics who accompanied the ambulance, a half hour of anxiety later. They lifted me onto a stretcher, asked me questions and prepared me for the trip to the hospital. The one question we can all be prepared to answer is, Response Information Kit) kit magnetized to my fridge containing an up-to-date prepared list of my medications. That is all that is needed. The hospital will not use your meds if you take them with you. E.R.I.K. also contains a health care directive that gives direction to the medical staff, if you have a life-threatening emergency.
