NARTA Goes to the Reptile Gardens

Betty Rink, President, NARTA

Twenty-five members of the NARTA group had their Christmas Get Together at the Arts Forward Building in Neepawa. We enjoyed our usual full Christmas dinner with all the trimmings, which was locally catered.

Some of the members entertained with a typical country school Christmas Concert item in which a farmer returning from a winter holiday was met at the train station by his hired man. What followed was truly hilarious.

The members and guests also enjoyed participating in Christmas Season focussed games. A time of fellowship was enjoyed by all.

In September, the NARTA members and guests enjoyed a full day excursion to three extremely interesting locations in the Brandon area. The tour started with a guided tour of the Royal Canadian Artillery Museum in Shilo. One could spend an entire day at this museum because of the wealth of information and displays on Canada's military history.

Lunch was enjoyed at the Shilo Golf Course.

Our next stop was the Reptile Garden in the Douglas area. Featured were numerous varieties of full grown crocodiles, alligators and tropical snakes.

Finally, we made a much enjoyed visit to the Doll Museum where the owner kindly gave us a guided tour of her fascinating collection of historic china dolls. She also spoke on the process of making as well as restoring these dolls. Truly a specialized artisan experience.

Late afternoon tea concluded the day at Shady Lane Tea House. Nature provided us with a gorgeous fall day. §
