Compliance Training The Office of Research Services provides required training for Principal Investigators to be eligible to receive grant funding. To be compliant with federal and university guidelines, it is important for Principal Investigators to remain current on training requirements. Federal Grants Management Training Program is designed for those who are implementing federally sponsored grants and cooperative agreements.​ Non-Federal Grants Management Training Program​is geared to those with grant awards funded by foundations or other nonfederal sources. Internal Grants Management Training Program​is designed for those with grant awards funded by DePaul University. Responsible conduct of research​(RCR) is for PIs, undergraduates, graduate students, and postdocs who are engaged in research supported by the National Science Foundation. Complete the CITIRCR training using these directions. Institutional Review Board (IRB) - Training for research involving human subjects Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) - Training for research involving animals Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC)​​- Biosafety and biosecurity training

Preparing Your Research 01 Project CITI Basic Human Subjects Training is required for research involving human subjects. Faculty Scholarship Collaborative promotes, enhances, facilitates, and supports faculty, staff, and their research assistants in methodologically diverse, socially relevant research. IACUC Basic Training: is for research involving animals. Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC)​​is training on Biosafety and biosecurity. Lunch & Learn series is offered on an ad-hoc basis on selected topics, bringing together faculty and staff across Colleges and departments to advance research, creative activities, and innovation. Responsible Conduct of Research​(RCR) is for PIs, undergraduates, graduate students, and postdocs who are engaged in research supported by the National Science Foundation. Complete the CITI- RCR training using these directions. National Center for Faculty Development & Diversity’s Faculty Success Program (NCFDD) is a grant program for Assistant Professors seeking to increase their scholarly output to enhance their tenure and promotion portfolio or senior faculty who wish to reinvigorate their scholarship. Applications are open twice per year during the URC Grant Funding cycles.

02 Obtaining Grant Funding

Corporate and Foundations Relations Handout outlines ways the Corporate and Foundation Relations team can assist faculty and staff interested in seeking philanthropic support from corporations, corporate foundations, and private foundations. Grant Forward is a funding search engine of grant opportunities spread across 39 subject areas and 2009 categories. It is an expansive database of sponsors comprising foundations, federal agencies, and other institutions. Grants.gov is a searchable database of federal funding initiatives. Grant Search Tool is a listing of funding opportunities curated by the Office of Research Services that align with DePaul programs and research areas. Grant Writers Seminar & Workshop is an external workshop program that provides guidance on writing NSF and NIH proposals. It includes a day-long workshop on campus and is then followed with structured assistance with a proposal.

02 Obtaining Grant Funding

Internal Funding Workshop provides an overview of the University Research Council, Quality Instruction Council, Public Service Council, and Academic Growth & Innovation grant programs. It is offered every September and includes tips and strategies to submit funded proposals. Lunch & Learn Series is offered on an ad-hoc basis on selected topics, bringing together faculty and staff across Colleges and departments to advance research, creative activities, and innovation. University Platforms to Support Research provides an overview of Library, IS, and other resources that support faculty research.

03 Managing Your Grant Award Closeout Process includes an overview of the checklist to follow when a grant award is closing, such as personnel and reporting. Budget Modifications and Financial Services Helpdesk provides an overview of what a budget modification is and how to process it using the Financial Services Helpdesk. Federal Grants Management Training is designed for those who are implementing federally sponsored grants and cooperative agreements.​ Grant Expense Report Training provides demonstration on submitting an expense report in BlueSky. How to Run and Read the Financial Activity Report in BlueSky is a demonstration of the steps followed to run the financial activity report. Internal Grants Management Training is designed for those with grant awards funded by DePaul University. Lunch & Learn Series is offered on an ad-hoc basis on selected topics, bringing together faculty and staff across Colleges and departments to advance research, creative activities, and innovation. 03 Managing Your Grant Reallocations vs. Redistributions provides an overview of how a reallocation differs from a redistribution and the steps to follow to process to process both types of modifications. Responsible Conduct of Research​(RCR) is for PIs, undergraduates, graduate students, and postdocs who are engaged in research supported by the National Science Foundation. Complete the CITI- RCR training using these directions. University Platforms to Support Research provides information on resources available to faculty to support their research, including the Library and Information Technology.


Asynchronous Workshops Award Closeout Process provides an overview of the steps that should be followed to closeout a grant award, including No Cost Extensions, reporting, and personnel. Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC)​​ is training on Biosafety and biosecurity. Budget Modifications and Financial Services Helpdesk CITI Basic Human Subjects Training is required for research involving human subjects. Grant Expense Report Training provides an overview on how to submit an expense reimbursement in the Blue Sky system. How to Run and Read the Financial Activity Report in BlueSky details the steps to take to review a grant budget report. IACUC Basic Training is for research involving animals.
