Es ist eine Begegnung, eine Herausforderung, eine Einladung, ein Dialog, ein Abbild einer Gesellschaft, eine Vermessung des Körpers, ein Spiel mit der Persönlichkeit, ein Rätsel, ein Blick in die Seele oder ein Kontakt mit den Augen. Überzeuge die Jury mit deinem Bild eines Menschen, das den Augenblick überdauert. Die besten Künstler aus 4 Kategorien werden von einer hochkarätigen Jury ausgezeichnet, die Werke werden von recom-art produziert und in einer thematischen kuratierten Gruppenausstellung im Projektraum PhotoWerkBerlin im November 2015 präsentiert. A portrait is more than a copy of face. It‘s an encounter, a challenge, an invitation, a mirrow of the society, a survey of the body, a game with the personality, a dialog, a riddle, a look into the soul or contact through the eyes. Submit a photograph that best realizes the challenge of portraiture. Artists will be selected from 4 categories by a qualified jury to be produced by recom-art and presented in a curated group exhibition in Project Space PhotoWerkBerlin that will open in November 2015.

HIJACKING REALITY
Was braucht ein Photokünstler, um ein starkes Bild zu inszenieren? Eine teure Ausrüstung? Gutes Studiolicht? Assistenten? Modelle? Set-Designer? Make-Up Profis? Nichts von alledem. Nur ein gutes Auge, Intuition und die Einsicht in das eigene Thema. Was der Photo- und Videokünstler Boris Eldagsen in seiner über zwanzigjährigen Praxis entwickelt hat, nennt er selbst Hijacking Reality. Im Workshop gibt er uns Einblicke in seine Arbeitsweise und zeigt, welche Fähigkeiten man entwickeln muss, um erfolgreich mit dem zu arbeiten, was gegeben ist. Wir lernen konventionelle Regeln zu brechen, uns vom Erwartungsdruck der Technik freizumachen und Bilder zu produzieren, die wir nie für möglich gehalten haben. What does an artist need to produce strong staged photography? Expensive camera equipment? Special light sources? Assistants? Actors? Set designers? Make-up? No! Just a good eye, intuition and a personal understanding of one‘s subject is all you need. Having worked with photo-media for 20 years, Boris Eldagsen will share his insights into how to get the most out of working with what you have. During the course you will learn how to enhance your creative imagination and develop strategies to break conventional rules and leave with images that you may have thought were never possible. 03. Ein Photo verrät mindestens eben soviel über den Menschen hinter der Kamera wie über den vor der Linse. Für ein stimmiges Porträt muss sich der Photograph über die eigenen Erwartungen an die Bilder, die entstehen sollen, im Klaren sein. Fabian Zapatka vermittelt seine persönliche Herangehensweise als Voraussetzung für eine individuelle photographische Arbeit. Der Workshop findet im Kunsthaus Bethanien statt. Dieses ehemalige Krankenhaus aus der Mitte des 19. Jahrhunderts, bietet mit seinen Künstler-Ateliers, nicht nur einen inspirierenden Ort für Gespräche, sondern auch einen atmosphärischen Hintergrund für die Portraitshootings. A photo reveals every bit as much about the person behind the camera and it does about the person in front of the lens. Photography is a psychological challenge for the photographer and model. For a harmonious portrait you should have a clear concept of your expectations. Fabian Zapatka shares his individual artistic language to help you finding your own unique approach. The workshop will be held at the Kunstraum Bethanien. This former hospital dating back to the middle of the 19th century is now filled with artists studios which creates not only a inspirational place for discussions, but also offers an unique atmosphere for portraitshootings. 30. DAVID PUN TEL WETPLATE WEEKEND Das Wetplate Weekend führt ein in die wundervolle Welt der Glasplattenphotographie, die auch als Ambrotypie bekannt ist. David Puntel zeigt die Technik in seinem neu eröffneten Studio für historische Techniken in Berlin Treptow. Es werden alle Schritte der Nassplatten-Technik behandelt. Von der Chemie zu den Glasplatten über die Belichtung zur Kontrolle des Prozesses. Durch die Arbeit mit verschiedenen Kameras und historischen Objektiven werden die Impressionen auf bis zu 10 eigenen einzigartigen Ambrotypien verewigt, die wir mit nach Hause nehmen können. The Wetplate Weekend is a journey into the amazing world of creating photographic images on glass, historically known as ambrotypes. This Collodion Workshop is held in a newly opened studio and laboratory for alternative photographic techniques in Berlin Treptow. The workshop includes instruction in all steps of the process, begining with the chemistry involved and continuing with the glass preparation and the exposure, as well as working with different lights to trouble-shooting and ending by examining your own unique images. We will work with different cameras and antique brass lenses creating up to ten of our own ambrotypes that you can keep to preserve this wonderful weekend experience out of another place and time.
