ART WALK RENO: The monthly art walk features works of local and regional artists on display in venues within the Arts District, between Liberty Street and Second Street and Virginia Street and Arlington Avenue. Enjoy one last blast of summertime fun during this Labor Day weekend event, which merges the Fallon Hearts of Gold Cantaloupe Festival and the Churchill County Country Fair. The festival celebrates Fallon’s agricultural past and present, showcases local talent and supports local businesses. Activities and attractions include fair exhibits, a children’s play area, a karaoke contest, 4-H club demonstrations and displays, the Lion’s Club Labor Day Parade and Jr. Rodeo, Civil War skirmishes performed by the Battle Born Civil War Reenactors, live music and a farmers’ market, featuring the Hearts of Gold cantaloupe, which were a popular variety of melon grown in Fallon during the early 20th century. The fair begins on Friday, Sept. 4, and runs through Monday, Sept. 7, at the Churchill County Fairgrounds, 325 Sheckler Road, Fallon.
