43rd annual festival features two mainstage productions, Shakespeare’s romantic tragedy, Romeo and Juliet, and the world’s longest-running musical, The Fantasticks. A multi-event Monday Night Showcase and new Summer Encore Showcase will augment the Festival’s 2015 mainstage productions and feature a diverse array of live music and entertainment from a variety of genres. Lake Tahoe SummerFeST
The fourth annual festival of the arts in Lake Tahoe kicks off on Friday, July 31, with the concert “Destination Genius” featuring the Lake Tahoe SummerFest Orchestra and guest pianist Joseph Kalichstein. The program includes Mendelssohn’s Sinfonia No. 10, Mozart’s Symphony No. 36, “Linz” and Beethoven’s Concerto for Piano No. 5, “Emperor.” The festival continues on Saturday, Aug. 1, with a program titled “In a Vienna Cafe: Meet the Music—Meet the Musicians, Chamber Music,” which highlights musicians who often debuted their music in the coffeehouses of Vienna, Austria. The concert features Mozart’s Piano Quartet in E-flat major and Schubert’s Quintet in C major for Strings. The opening weekend concludes on Sunday, Aug. 2, with the concert “Passion for Dance” highlighting dance rhythm-inspired music including Bach’s Orchestral Suite No. 2 in B minor, Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 17 and Brahms’ Serenade No. 2, Op. 16. The festival continues on weekends through Aug. 16 at the campus of Sierra Nevada College, 999 Tahoe Blvd., Incline Village.
