Steve Davis documented the open lands remaining in the Truckee

Meadows, including Double Diamond

Reno Jazz Festival

Student jazz musicians, along with clinicians, performers and adjudicators, will gather at the University of Nevada, Reno campus for the 54th annual jazz festival. Students will learn from master artists and participate in clinics and competitions. Top jazz artists will also perform during the three-day event, including jazz guitarist Lage Lund with UNR’s faculty jazz ensemble The Collective on Thursday, April 28, at Nightingale Concert Hall in the Church Fine Arts Building, 1335 N. Virginia St., University of Nevada, Reno. The show starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $12-$22. Grammy Award-winning instrumental fusion band Snarky Puppy (pictured above) and the UNR Jazz Lab Big Band will perform the following night on Friday, April 29, at Lawlor Events Center, 1500 N. Virginia St. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $5-$28. The festival closes with the Festival Showcase and Awards Ceremony featuring a performance by the winners of the RJF All-Star Performers competition and encore performances from some of the highestrated groups and soloists in the festival.
