

Since joining Reminger Co., LPA as a law clerk over 23 years ago, I have seen firsthand that this firm is special because of our people. The dedication, collaboration, and hard work of our people have fostered Reminger’s culture of excellence for over 65 years. As I finish my first year as Managing Partner, I am honored to continue building Reminger’s remarkable legacy that our people have created.
In 2024, we welcomed 21 talented attorneys to our team and celebrated numerous accolades. I’m proud to share a few of the awards presented to our firm and attorneys in 2024.

Reminger was honored to support our local communities through The Reminger Foundation. Thanks to the
generosity of our attorneys, staff, and friends of the firm, the Foundation made nearly 50 charitable grants in 2024, totaling more than $119,000. Specifically, Reminger was proud to support MetroHealth’s MedicalLegal Partnership. This two-year partnership is poised to help at-risk patients overcome barriers to good health.

Michael J. Caligaris – Cincinnati
Michael’s practice is focused on professional Liability, medical malpractice and long term care liability, trucking and commercial transportation, and retail. He first joined Reminger in 2021.
Matthew R. Carona – Akron & Cleveland
Matt focuses his practice primarily on the areas of workers’ compensation and employment practices liability. Matt first joined Reminger as an associate in early 2024.
Shana DeMooy – Columbus
Shana focuses on probate estate and trust disputes, undue influence and financial exploitation, breach of fiduciary duty, estate and trust administrations, and guardianships. She first joined Reminger as an associate in 2022.
Steven B. Lowery – Louisville
Steven focuses his practice on complex tort defense including personal injury, trucking, premises liability, products liability, construction liability, and other challenging areas of tort defense. He joined Reminger as a law clerk in 2017 and was named an associate in 2019.
Frank Mazgaj, Jr. – Cleveland
Frank’s practice focuses on the defense of medical malpractice defense. He also has extensive experience in personal injury, construction, insurance coverage, and professional liability litigation. He joined Reminger as an associate in 2023.
Michael D. Rice – Dayton
Michael's practice encompasses medical malpractice, long-term care liability, professional liability, business and commercial litigation, general liability, and insurance coverage/bad faith. He first joined Reminger as an associate in 2023.

Susan Blasik-Miller was named Partner-inCharge of our Dayton, Ohio office. She focuses her practice on the defense of physicians and other medical professionals, businesses, and employers in a wide variety of cases.
We were pleased to host the third annual Advanced Probate Law Institute with the Columbus Bar Association to an audience of 45 attorneys and other estate planning professionals. Michael Brody, Shana DeMooy, Timothy Gallagher, Brittany Kaczmarczyk Mary Kraft, Adriann McGee, Nicholas Sebastiano, and Paul Shugar participated.
In March 2024, we announced the creation of our Executive Leadership Group. This new leadership structure further enhances our legal capabilities and fosters greater collaboration among our offices and practice groups. We also implemented Legal Operations Liaisons in Kentucky and Indiana, an Associate Liaison Committee, and Paralegal Liaison Committee.

Reminger attorneys skillfully defend civil cases through jury trials, arbitrations, mediations, and various administrative and alternative dispute resolution proceedings. Below is a summary of some of our notable results from 2024.
Jessica Forrest and Brittany Kaczmarczyk earned a unanimous jury verdict and an award of $110,000, plus attorney fees, on behalf of their clients— four beneficiaries of a trust who learned their trustee had hired her husband as a “consultant” to the trust.
Susan Blasik-Miller and Shannon Bockelman secured a unanimous defense verdict for a foot and ankle orthopedic surgeon in a case involving an ankle fusion surgery.
Sean Needham and Zachary Durant recently secured an award in a AAA arbitration on behalf of their financial advisor client accused of breaching his fiduciary duties while executing trades in a managed trust account. The financial advisor was cleared of any wrongdoing and an award was issued in his favor denying all claims with prejudice.
Adriann McGee, Kenton Steele, and Mary Kraft recently represented the estate of a prominent solo practitioner with one of the largest plaintiff’s workers compensation clienteles in Ohio. The jury returned with a plaintiff’s verdict on both claims, including punitive damages. The total award amounted to $1.1M.
Erin Hess and Brianna Prislipsky secured a defense verdict for an OB/GYN in a case involving multiple claims of medical negligence, lack of informed consent, battery, and punitive damages. The claims stemmed from a 2020 hysterectomy. Plaintiffs requested $1.3 million in damages from the jury.
Daniel Egger and Erin Hess obtained defense verdict in favor of a radiologist in a case involving an alleged negligent interpretation of a chest CT scan.
Unanimous Defense Verdict in Favor of Nursing and Rehab Center
Melvin Davis, Thomas Prislipsky, and Kenton Steele obtained an 8-0 defense verdict in favor of a nursing and rehabilitation center.
Unanimous Defense Verdict in Favor of Emergency Medicine Physician
Susan Blasik-Miller and Meredith Turner-Woolley secured a unanimous defense verdict in a medical malpractice wrongful death case involving a decedent who presented to the emergency department with chest pain and was treated by our client, an emergency medicine physician.
David Krause and Jackie Jewell prevailed on behalf of our critical care physician client and his practice group. Defense Verdict in Favor of Critical Care Physician
Unanimous Defense Verdict in Favor of a Cardiothoracic Surgeon
Susan Blasik-Miller and Meredith Turner-Woolley obtained unanimous defense verdict in favor of a cardiothoracic surgeon. Plaintiff claimed medical negligence because our client never put him on cardiopulmonary bypass and made a $4 million demand.
Brian Nally obtained dismissal of all legal malpractice claims against a Cleveland law firm and lawyer. After the Plaintiff brought numerous claims arising out of the handling of an underlying divorce proceeding, Brian was successful in obtaining a complete dismissal of all claims filed against the firm and the attorney.
Brian Gannon and Joseph Flannery secured a defense verdict on behalf of a pain management physician accused of over prescribing controlled substances.
In a case of alleged negligence, attorneys Anthony Pernice and Justin Haubner secured a defense verdict for their snow removal company client following a slip and fall incident during an active snow event.
