TYDAL - kommunen ved foten av SYLAN Fjellbygda Tydal ønsker deg velkommen til storslått natur ved foten av Sylmassivet. Sylan er et område som gir mange utfordringer, både sommer og vinter. Her er det muligheter for jakt og fiske, eller bare å nyte naturopplevelsen. Tydal ligger 11 mil sør-øst for Trondheim, og ca. 8 mil fra nærmeste flyplass og jernbane. Vi har veiforbindelse både til Stjørdal og Røros, og kommunen er en grensekommune til Sverige. Tydal har stort areal og få innbyggere. Bygda har tradisjonelt vært en jordbruks- og skogbruksbygd, hvor folk har utnyttet ressursene som har ligget i jakt, fiske og fangst. Senere har kraftutbygging preget samfunnet, og i dag er tradisjonelt landbruk, småbedrifter, turisme, hytteturisme og tjenesteyting viktige næringsveier for folk som bor her. Her i Tydal har vi mange store arrangement, både sommer og vinter. Vi kan nevne bl.a. Karolinerspelet, Pilegrimsrittet, Storsylen Opp, Tydalsfestivalen og mange idrettsarrangement. Tydal - the municipality at the base of SYLAN The mountain district of Tydal welcomes you to magnificent nature at the foot of the Syl massif. Sylan is an area that offers many challenges, during both the summer and winter months. There are opportunities to hunt and fish, or to just simply enjoy the nature. Tydal is situated 110 km south-east of Trondheim and around 80 km from the nearest airport and railway station. We have road connections to both Stjørdal and Røros and the municipality is the border municipality to Sweden. Tydal covers a large area with few inhabitants. The parish’s livelihood has traditionally been derived from farming and forestry. In more recent years, energy development has affected the community and, these days, traditional farming, small businesses, tourism, cabin rental and services are vital sources of income for the local inhabitants. Many major events take place each year in Tydal. Among these are the ’Karolinerspelet’ (re-enactment of the Carolean Tragedy), the Pilgrim Race, Storsylen Up, the Tydal Festival, as well as many sporting events.
