REJOICE ESSENTIAL MAGAZINE JUNE 2021

BEVELYN BEATTY INTERVIEWD BY KIMBERLY MOSES

Interviewer: I am Kimberly Moses, the founder of Rejoice Essential Magazine, and I want to thank you so much, woman of God, for accepting the invite. My sister-in-law told me about you. She said, “You need to get her,” and I began to research you. I was blown away. As I was reading your testimony, I was like, “Wow!” We have so much in common. I loved your realness and transparency. You are very authentic, and I feel like that is a great way to reach people. We have been doing this magazine for about six years, and I am just really excited. Thank you again for the opportunity and for you saying yes to the invite. Bevelyn Beatty: Amen. Thank you for having me. I appreciate it. Interviewer: What is so amazing [about your testimony is] I had a similar encounter. I met Jesus in jail. I’ve gone to jail a few times, but that last time is when I had that encounter with Jesus. That’s when I got my life on the right track. I want to talk about that breaking

point in your life. When did you accept Jesus in your heart? Bevelyn Beatty: Well, the thing is, I was suffering from depression even before I got arrested. When I was arrested, I felt low in a sense, but I didn’t really know a way out. I met a woman there that was prophetic. She told me about a night that I had in the bathroom. She said that I had been crying out to the Lord for help because I really felt like I was cornered and didn’t know which way to go, as far as my life. I felt alone. I felt like I did everything that I could do on this earth, and it was like I still felt alone. You know what I mean? While I was in jail, this lady told me about a night when I was coming from the bar. I just went into the bathroom and turned on the water so my roommate couldn’t hear me, and I just cried. When she told me about that night, I thought, “Wow! This woman is speaking from God. This is prophetic.” She basically told me that you have to give your life to Christ and that I was headed toward death. She told me that if I didn’t

give my life to the Lord, death would be the result. She wanted me to know that God had so much for me. In a sense, she spoke into my life, but really, it was an ultimatum to give my life to Christ because there was nothing left for me. I repented of my sins, and that day, I walked away and said, “Lord, I am going to serve you with everything that I have. I don’t really know how to do right because I have only done wrong most of my life, but I am going to try to obey you as best as I can.” That was what really shifted my life. Interviewer: Amen. I love that. What inspired your name ministry’s name: At the Well? Bevelyn Beatty: A year later, I met my best friend Edna. We started going out and ministering on the streets. We both could relate to the Samaritan woman at the well. She was a woman who suffered from depression. She had a lot of different challenges and sin going on in her life, such as different men. Then she had an encounter with Jesus, and
