S.S. SÃO GABRIEL A SHIP AS SCENIC AS PORTUGAL’S DRAMATIC DOURO RIVER VALLEY. In 1497, Portuguese explorer Vasco da Gama set out with a fleet of warships on his first voyage to India. His ship’s name? São Gabriel. And much like his lead vessel, this new ship on the DOURO RIVER was built for those culturally curious enough to explore new horizons. The S.S. SÃO GABRIEL will set sail with the same fervor that da Gama’s ship did on its quest to find an ocean route between Europe and Asia. The newest ship on the Douro will debut with more space, more suites and a higher crew-to-guest ratio than her predecessor, Queen Isabel. With the addition of butler service onboard and two dining venues—a restaurant and an alfresco option on the top deck— Portugal’s first Super Ship will never cease to amaze you.
