Regis Jesuit Swim & Dive Highlights 2014-15

January Nineteen state qualifying swimmers and divers competed and placed second at 5A State. McKensi Austin ’16 won her second straight diving championship and the 200 free relay of Lindsay Painton ’16, Jennae Frederick ’17, Amy Lenderink ’16 and Taylor Wilson ’15 was first as well. Individually Lindsay Painton placed seventh in 200 free and 100 free, Taylor Wilson ’15 placed fifth in 50 free and sixth in 100 free, Amy Lenderink ’16 took second in 100 fly, Kaylie Breslin ’16 was seventh in 100 fly, Samantha Smith ’17 placed eighth in 100 free and seventh in 100 back and Kellyn Toole ’15 finished fourth in diving. Both the 200 medley relay and 400 free relay achieved Automatic All American times and McKensi Austin earned All American in diving. Both head coach Nick Frasersmith and dive coach Kim Hagger were named 5A coach of the McKensi Austin '16 and Kellyn Toole '15 year. August Missy Franklin ’13 wins the ESPY for best female college athlete.

2015-16

January The RJ Girls Swim & Dive Team placed second at 5A State with 27 swimmers and divers. McKensi Austin ’16 won the diving championship for the third consecutive year and the 200 free relay of Amy Lenderink ’16, Jennae Frederick ’17, Meriel Upton ’19, and Lindsay Painton ’16 won for a fourth consecutive year. The 400 free relay Samantha Smith ’17, Meriel Upton, Isabella Schultze ’17, Lindsay Painton also won their event. Lindsay Painton was third in 200 free and second in 100 free, Anne Marie Kenny ’18 was sixth in diving, Amy Lenderink placed second in 100 fly, Kaylie Breslin ’16 was eighth in 100 fly, and Samantha Smith ’17 was fifth in 100 free. All American was achieved in four events – diving (McKensi Austin), 100 fly (Amy Lenderink), the 200 free relay and 400 free relay. August Missy Franklin '13 won a gold medal as part of the women's 4 x 200 free relay at the Rio Olympics.

2016-17

January Twenty-six qualifiers participated and placed fourth at the 5A State Meet. Jada Surrell-Norwood ’20 placed fifth in 50 free and second in 100 free achieving All-American times in both. Samantha Smith ’17 was sixth in 50 free and eighth in 100 fly and Jenna Newkirk ’20 was seventh in 500 free. The 200 free relay of Samantha Smith, Meriel Upton ’19, Jennae Frederick ’17 and Jada Surrell-Norwood set a new team record and placed second in an All-American time and the 400 free relay of Samantha Smith, Meriel Upton, Isabella Schultze ’17 and Jada Surrell-Norwood placed third also with an All-American time.

2017-18

February Twenty-five qualifiers participated and placed third at the 5A State Meet. Scoring in every event, the Raiders returned an impressive 125 points when the season begins in November 2019. Jada Surrell-Norwood '20 placed third in 50 free and second in 100 free, achieving an All-American time in the 100. Meriel Upton '19 was sixth in 200 free and seventh in 100 free and Claire Brennan '19 was fourth in 200 free and 12th in 100 free. Juniors Sophia Bradac '20 and Parker Biley '20 both scored in two individual events as well, with Sophia taking 13th in 200 IM and 5th in 100 breast with an All-American time and new team record. Parker was sixth in 200 IM and 13th in 100 back. Other indivdual scorers included Rachel Hubka '19 who was12th in 50 free, Ava Leege '20, 16th in 100 breast, Anne Marie Kenny, eighth in diving, Manna Nelson '20, 15th in 500 free, Dani Carr '18, 16th in 100 back and Courtney Vale '19, 15th in 100 breast. All three relays finished in the top three with the 200 free relay (Meriel Upton, Izzie Capra '19, Rachel Hubka and Jada Surrell-Norwood) and 400 free relay (Meriel Upton, Parker Biley, Sophia Bradac and Jada Surrell-Norwood) both taking second place and achieving All-American times.

2018-19

February Regis Jesuit qualified 29 swimmers who participated and placed third at the 5A State Meet at VMAC and had 159 returning points for the 201920 season. All three relays placed third and achieved AllAmerican status: 200 medley relay (Parker Biley '20, Sophia Bradac '20, Jada Surrell-Norwood '20 and Rachel Hubka '19),
