Footy season kicks off

FOOTY season got underway on Saturday, with the six team competition for 2013 meaning the spectators were able to enjoy three fantastic games at the Hindle footy oval.

119 hit water for Ladies’ Fishing Classic Lynne Walker, Jessica Dillon, Shirley Shepherd, Annette Cotterill and Ian Shepherd got an early start on Saturday morning for a weekend of fishing for the Airnorth Ladies’ Fishing Classic.

THE soccer season is underway, with the Gove Junior Football Club holding a “Meet the Coaches” session at Hindle Oval on Friday (19 April). More than 80 kids have signed up for their chance to play the beautiful game, but the Club is happy to accept late sign-ons. Weekly training for the Under 6’s, Under 8’s and Under 10’s began on Monday (22 April) and goes from 4.30pm to 5.30pm every week, while Under 12’s and Over

13’s have their first training session today (Wednesday 24 April) at Hindle Oval from 5pm to 6.30pm. Games start for all this Friday (26 April) at the oval from 4.30pm with the season running through to 16 August. The Airnorth Ladies Fishing Classic was held over the weekend, with 34 teams hitting the water in their boats, involving 119 female anglers. Presentations to the winners of the Nhulunbuy Regional Sports Fishing Club event will be held this Saturday (27 April) at the NRSFC club room, from 6pm.
