MESSAGE FROM THE MINISTER OF TOURISM, THE HON. EDMUND BARTLETT

Evolving out of the womb of our African heritage, with a blend of Spanish, British and other cultural offerings, Jamaica has emerged with a rich culture that exemplifies its motto: “Out of Many, One People ” As director, choreographer, author, actress and dancer, Dr L’Antoinette Stines is among the outstanding curators of this unique culture, which she has been showcasing to the world in dance through L’ACADCO for all of 40 years, living their motto: “Building bridges through the arts ”

The members of the ensemble have become dynamic ambassadors of Jamaican culture, through dance and are advocates for its preservation and development Over the years L’ACADCO has distinguished itself as one of Jamaica’s leading contemporary dance companies, consistently raising the bar of excellence in dance in the Caribbean An ongoing stream of accolades at home and abroad justifies this claim and the right of L’ACADCO to present itself as: “A

For this, your 40th Anniversary Season of Dance, the Ministry of Tourism salutes Dr Stines and the entire L’ACADCO family for the resilience you have shown, and the high standards that you have maintained throughout these four decades The Ministry of Tourism recognizes the intrinsic value of our cultural heritage, in particular dance, to the tourism product and is committed, through the Entertainment Network of the Tourism Linkages Network, to the development and promotion of the Arts There is no doubt that patrons can look forward to being entertained and engaged by the subliminal messages of the dances On behalf of the Ministry of Tourism and its public bodies, I extend heartfelt congratulations to you on attaining this important milestone and wish you many more years of wooing audiences with the creativity of your productions
