In 1946, the Lemon family sold the land to the Cottrell family, who shortly afterward sold it to the Bopp family. The family changed the name from the Halfway Inn to the Rainbow Ranch Lodge because of the rainbow colored tiles on the roof of the lodge. The Lodge itself has moved three times since and has gone through several different owners. The barn along the river is the only building left that the Lemon family built.
After extensive remodeling, the Lodge and Restaurant reopened in 1995 with the goal of providing accommodations and dining to match the beautiful surroundings of the Gallatin Canyon.
