Conveyors are an integral part of warehouse operations. They contribute significantly to productivity and efficiency as well as quality control and personnel safety. The type of conveyor used in a particular application depends on a number of factors, including the size and weight of the product to be transferred, whether the conveying is done on one level or from one level to another, and many other factors.

Like other Sydney material handling equipment, conveyors must match their function. But cost is also a concern. Of course, one conveyor cannot replace another because it is less expensive. However, there are ways to keep costs under control.

One way to control costs is to look for used conveyors that meet specifications. Look for used equipment from large companies that are outgrowing, downsizing or updating their warehouse operations. Refurbished equipment can be a great investment.

Conveyors fall into four basic categories: gravity, power, flexible, and lift/carousel. With a gravity conveyor, products are moved or pushed by gravity. Motor rotates with power conveyor. Flexible conveyors are just that: they can be gravity- or motor-driven, depending on the application.
