FALL KICK-OFF

Sunday, August 20 | 8:30 AM - 1:00 PM

This Fall is ripe with opportunities at Redeemer to GROW FAITHFULLY and SERVE BOLDLY.

GROWING FAITHFULLY.

Challenging, thoughtful, and engaging discussions can be found in various Faith Formation classes and retreats. Children can ask questions and deepen their understanding of our faith through Faith Stepping Stones. Men can explore their calling in Christ as they fish and cook out at Lutheranch. Women can saddle up or rest and renew through retreat offerings at Lutheranch. Share a meal and conversation with others at our Wednesday night dinners.

After reflecting on these questions, come to Redeemer’s Fall Kick-Off on Sunday, August 20th. Find out more about classes, retreats, and opportunities to serve. Bring a friend who is looking for a community that is centered in Christ and focused on others. That is who we are.

May it be so

Redeemer’s tagline, “Growing Faithfully. Serving Boldly” articulates our core telling everyone we are centered here in Midtown Atlanta as a community that benefits deeply from the nourishment of our faith and shares it in service to others. This tagline comes from Redeemer’s Strategic Plan, launched in 2019. It is a memorable refrain that reveals who we are. At Redeemer, we do not exist for ourselves alone. We are Other focused growing in God, serving with others.

SERVE BOLDLY.

Learn new skills by becoming trained to visit members in their homes or run the AV system during worship. Roll up your sleeves and don an apron, hat, and gloves to serve up a hot meal to our unsheltered neighbors or help sort donated food to the Lutheran Community Food Ministry. As the summer winds down, now is the time to take a moment to reflect.

-How is your relationship with God? What is one faithful step you can take toward God?

-How is your time or energy spent or shared? What is one bold thing you will do to serve others?

Lutheran Church of the Redeemer Atlanta, Georgia

BEGINNING WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 23

Worship at 7:00 PM

The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. (Galatians 5:22-23a)

We are confident that God has planted Lutheran Church of the Redeemer in Midtown so that others may see Jesus through us This fall we will explore ways in which God is growing diverse fruits of love, faithfulness, and many other varieties through the people of Redeemer. During Wednesday night worship service, Pastor will interview different members of our community to hear stories of God’s generosity Join us for a unique opportunity of storytelling and become fed through the gift of Holy Communion. Through worship, God nurtures us to bear good and beautiful fruit in Midtown and beyond

MUSICMUSIC

THE CHOIR NEEDS YOUR VOICE…AND YOU MAY NEED THE CHOIR.

You know what we do singing for Sunday services, Christmas Eve, Good Friday, the Harvest Home Concert—and you may have thought about how you would like to sing but just can’t commit to being there every week, or it’s been so long since you sang last that you’re out of practice. Still, if singing is in your blood, it can be like an itch you need to scratch. What you don’t know is that it’s easier than you think.

The choir includes people with a broad range of music-reading abilities, and we plan and rehearse music far enough in advance that you can miss a few rehearsals and still be prepared to sing We even provide online resources to help your learning process.

The choir includes people who live so far away that coming in during the week is rarely possible. Our rehearsals include the traditional Wednesday night 7:30-9:00, but we also have a full rehearsal on Sunday morning 9:00-10:30, so you can be well rehearsed with only one trip in during the week.

If you can’t sing regularly, we offer occasional singing opportunities for single events with simpler music and limited rehearsal.

People join choirs because of the music, but they stay because of the relationships they build. This is why you see choir members who have sung for decades: we are a family that sings together. If you would like to see what the Choir is like, come down to Hinely Hall (the Choir Room on the basement level) any Sunday from 9:00-10:30 and sing with us or just listen. We’d love to meet you. Email DHansen@redeemer.org or visit www.redeemerchoir.org for more information.

Martin Luther had an exceptional prayer life It is not surprising that many of his students asked for advice on how to improve their own spiritual life In two works, Little Prayer Book (1522) and A Simple Way to Pray (1535), Luther seeks to reform the theology and practice of prayer in clear and understandable language for all people by encouraging simple, direct prayer to God, who promises to hear the one who prays.

A Personal Care Team is more than a meal delivered. A Personal Care Team shows the Care Recipients that their church community cares for them. Comprised by family, friends from church groups and worship, and members who have the gift of mercy and prayer, a unique Personal Care Team assembles for each Care Recipient.

The Pastor for Congregational Care meets with the Personal Care Team and the Care Recipient together The Care Recipient shares their challenge and needs and everyone receives encouragement and prayer together With a clear timeline of care, each person offers tangible support (meals, texts, visits), then the team disbands after the Care Recipient's needs are met (typically 3-4 weeks). You may be asked to be a part of a Personal Care Team if someone you know from church or a Redeemer member who lives near you needs short-term spiritualandemotionalcare.
