Re dding R anche Ria
April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month, the 2022 child abuse statistics were recently released and reports of child abuse in Shasta County continue to increase at an alarming rate. Shasta County’s substantiated rates of child abuse are more than triple the state average. Today, at Noon, Pathways to Hope for Children placed 710 pinwheels on the lawn in front of the Win-River Mini-Mart Each wooden child that is holding a pinwheel that represents the 710 substantiated cases of child abuse that occurred in Shasta County in 2022! This visually stunning display shows the trauma that our youth endure in Shasta County. “The Redding Rancheria has been a valuable partner in child abuse prevention efforts here in Shasta County. We are excited to partner with them to bring this display to the Win-River Mini Mart,” said Michael Burke, Executive Director of Pathways to Hope for Children. The display will be up throughout the month of April in an effort to keep the community talking about child abuse prevention efforts. We encourage everyone to post a picture or video of themselves on their favorite social media channel(s) and include the #WearBlueDay2023, #CAPMonth #WearBlue4Kids #100hopegivers #hopeshasta
