Redbird Nation, Since I began my journey at Illinois State in January 2021, I have found one thing to be certain: your loyalty and dedication to our department are unparalleled. I’m confident our Weisbecker Athletic Fund rebrand will positively impact your experience. Thank you from all of us in Redbird Athletics for your continued support and commitment. It is a great time to be a Redbird. Over the last year, our teams and student-athletes have excelled both in the classroom and on the playing surface. We celebrated our 125th Football season, won Missouri Valley Conference Championships in Volleyball, Women’s Basketball, Women’s Outdoor Track and Field, Women’s Tennis and Women’s Golf, and made significant progress in fundraising for the Indoor Practice Facility, Birds Give Back, and excelled academically. Additionally, we welcomed fans back all while navigating an ongoing global pandemic. Here at ISU Athletics, our mission is to help Redbird student-athletes R.I.S.E. We want to provide a world-class education and athletic experience for each of them. This could not be possible without you. Your support of the Weisbecker Athletic Fund makes a tremendous impact in the lives of our student-athletes daily. As we enter the 202223 year with the newly launched Weisbecker Athletic Fund, we could not be more excited for what lies ahead. Thanks to your loyal support, the future of Illinois State Athletics remains as bright as ever.

BREAKDOWN OF WEISBECKER ATHLETIC FUND
As the landscape of college athletics continues to change, the need for departments to be adaptable has never been higher. While looking at the Weisbecker Scholarship Fund, it was evident there were areas that are not currently best serving our department, our coaches, our student-athletes, and most importantly - you, our donors. The Weisbecker Athletic Fund is the new era of fundraising for Illinois State Athletics. We believe it positions us to be successful now and for years to come in stewarding funds, soliciting gifts, enhancing the donor experience, and connecting more Redbirds to our department and our programs, coaches, and student-athletes.
REDBIRD ATHLETIC SCHOLARSHIP FUND The general scholarship fund for student-athletes at Illinois State University. Gifts to the Redbird Athletic Scholarship Fund above and beyond seating requirements will help pay the annual bill for the fully-funded scholarships of the athletic department. REDBIRD PRIORITY SEATING Any contribution associated with the minimum seat requirement for a season ticket purchase. This contribution is not tax-deductible and will not count toward any matching gift program. This amount is subject to change yearly based on seating minimums and the number of tickets a donor purchases.
WHY REBRAND? • New leadership and era for Redbird Athletics • More donor involvement • Clearer delineation between funds and tax implications • Matching gift maximization • Creating a culture of transformational, philanthropic giving
COACHES CLUB Each sport has a fund designated for the use of its head coach to be spent in a discretionary manner to improve the program. Gifts directly to a program are recognized by the individual program and are entitled to benefits of the choosing of the program.
WEISBECKER SCHOLARSHIP FUND For the last fifteen years, the fundraising arm of the Illinois State Athletic Department has been branded the “Weisbecker Scholarship Fund.” ISU Athletics will continue to honor the dedicated service of Dr. Milt Weisbecker through the Weisbecker Athletic Fund rebrand. An all-encompassing fundraising entity, the Weisbecker Athletic Fund will further define and acknowledge donor support beyond scholarships. ISU Athletics has had tremendous support in recent years with the fundraising efforts of Support Your Sport, dedicated to the fundraising of our Coaches Clubs, the Indoor Practice Facility and ISU’s day of giving, Birds Give Back. Moving forward, Redbird Athletics will be able to enhance the cultivation and stewardship of our loyal supporters while creating a clear and efficient program to maximize fundraising opportunities.
YOUNG ALUMNI The Young Alumni program offers discounted Weisbecker Athletic Fund membership to Illinois State University graduates (within the past 4 years). With a donation of as little as $25, Young Alumni have the opportunity to give back to ISU Athletics while receiving customizable ticket packages and other exclusive perks!

PLANNED GIVING Illinois State invites you to make a generational impact through thoughtful estate planning. An estate gift allows you to leave a legacy at Illinois State. Many planned gifts lead to substantial tax advantages and other unique benefits while still supporting Redbird student-athletes.
TAX INFORMATION The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act legislation passed in December 2017 impacted donations associated with tickets to college athletic events. This includes any gift associated with season tickets or priority points, which are currently not tax-deductible. This information is not intended to provide or should not be relied on for tax, legal or accounting advice. Please consult your tax advisor concerning the application of tax laws to your particular situation. 7

Thanks to the generosity of an anonymous pair of donors, the Hancock Stadium Club was renamed the Aaron Leetch Club in early 2022. The gifts were made to honor the legacy of former Deputy Director of Athletics, Aaron Leetch, and the significant impact he had on Illinois State. Leetch first worked at Illinois State from 2005 to 2011, before returning to serve as Deputy Director of Athletics in June of 2013. A gifted administrator, Aaron was a driving force behind the fundraising for the Hancock Stadium Renovation and in the construction of the club space. The club is a 5,550 sq. ft. entertainment space for football game day, as well as a space to rent for private events.

The amazing donors that support the Weisbecker Athletic Fund make it possible for Illinois State student-athletes like me to have a once-in-a-lifetime experience as a Redbird. I want to thank them for being so generous - the education, athletics, and community at Illinois State are top tier and would not be possible without them.

HOW IS MY GIFT TO THE WEISBECKER ATHLETIC FUND USED? Contributions to the Weisbecker Athletic Fund are used to support the endeavors of ISU Athletics by providing Redbird student-athletes the opportunity to excel in the classroom, in competition, in the community, and set them up to achieve their dreams after earning their degree.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN REDBIRD ATHLETIC SCHOLARSHIP FUND AND REDBIRD PRIORITY SEATING? Required seat donations will be allocated towards Redbird Priority Seating. Redbird Priority Seating is a non-tax deductible, transactional contribution. Any amount beyond what is required, or a gift made for general scholarships that is philanthropic in nature will be allocated toward Redbird Athletic Scholarship Fund and is taxdeductible.

DO I GET CREDIT FOR MY COMPANY’S MATCHING GIFT? Many of our alumni, friends, and donors work for companies that offer generous matches to their employee contributions. Not only does this double your impact on ISU Athletics, but it can also help increase your donor level. Check with your employer to find out if they will match your donation to Illinois State University Athletics.
Kate Heyl
WHY SHOULD I DONATE?
WHAT ARE PRIORITY POINTS AND HOW ARE THEY USED? Our priority points system is a fair and consistent method of assigning seating locations for football and men’s basketball season tickets, allowing for away game ticket purchases, postseason ticket priority, and other related opportunities.
