his will be my last annual report as Pro Grand Master and I wish to pay tribute to all those who during the last seven years have devoted so much energy, enthusiasm and time to Freemasonry and to the United Grand Lodge of England. I likewise wish to pass on my thanks to my fellow Rulers, who have supported me so admirably during my tenure; also to the members of the Board of General Purposes for their care, dedication and guidance on the Craft; and to the Grand Secretary and his staff for their tireless work on our behalf. Of course, to you, our members, who in your own varied ways give of yourselves to ensure that Lodges run smoothly, dine well and do all those things that make meetings memorable and fun, let me pass on my thanks. Without you, our organisation would be but a mere shadow of what it has become. Of course, Freemasonry is so very much more than its leaders and its structures. I have had so much fun during my time as Pro Grand Master, and Freemasonry – above all things – must be fun. During the last year,
