sport clubs association E S T . 1 9 7 4 : O V ER 4 0 YEAR S O F S P O R T CLU B S A T T EXA S A & M The Texas A&M Sport Clubs Association provides the opportunity to compete against clubs from other collegiate institutions at the state, regional, or national level in 34 different sports, and allows members to learn or enhance their skills in a recreational setting. Each club is administered by students, has practice times and facilities, and receives some monetary support. To help subsidize the cost of travel and equipment, clubs may charge dues and participate in fund-raising activities.
CLUB
While the Sport Clubs staff and the Department of Recreational Sports assist clubs in securing needed funds, facilities and equipment, the emphasis is on student leadership and development. Students are directly responsible for all aspects of operating and managing a successful, competitive organization. As a result, Sport Clubs present a unique opportunity for students to develop both athletic and leadership abilities.
